We spent two days in St. Tropez a few years back. Our host took us to a bar over looking the waterfront. Holy cow, the docks were packed with enormous boats, but the real boats were out in the bay anchored, the size of destroyers, I don't know how many. They looked to be 300 footers. In France. Of course, they could have been owned by Saudis and folks from Monaco, another incredible lodging of extreme wealth, in Europe.
Many countries in Europe tried a wealth tax a few years back and nearly all reversed it. "We" think of Europe as being "soclaistic" and it simply isn't, much anyway. The tax burden there falls on the middle class much more than here. And yes, they get more stuff, but they pay for it in taxes. Sweden's tax system would kill our middle class, almost literally.
