So a couple weeks ago, my mom fell and broke her hip.
She went in and had surgery (luckily just a plate and screws rather than a hip replacement), recuperated for a couple days in the hospital, and then moved to a SNF for rehab and the rest of the recovery.
In two weeks in the SNF, she gained 40# of fluid weight, was extremely unhappy with her care, and she and my dad decided to go back to the hospital. That was Sunday.
As of yesterday I learned that she was being transferred to the ICU because the fluid wasn't properly draining and was affecting her heart, and she needs a catheter in her heart, carotid artery, and her neck in order to get the fluid drained. Without this treatment her condition would likely have been fatal within 48 hours...
Supposedly she's doing a little better this morning, and they just put the catheters in.
My wife and I are planning to fly out to Denver next week to support her in her recovery, and hoping that I won't have to fly out there within the next 24-48 because things turned south...
So... Good karma would be appreciated.
