Earl is known for liking his beer, but he'd never accept when offered. I'd be "working" the event, which for me consisted of chatting with people far more important than I am and fetching them beer every so often.  So whenever I saw Earl, I'd be sure to walk over and offer him and his entourage some beers.  But he always refused and instead, he liked to slide around behind all the folks working the fryers and serving line, locate an ice chest with beer in it, and sneak some.  He'd do this several times throughout the evening, and it took 2-3 hours for us to serve all 2000+ folks coming through the lines.  I guess he liked the idea of getting away with something, but my FIL always had me specifically put that ice chest in a place Earl would be able to easily identify and access it. And it always made me smile seeing him slink along the back wall to find it and grab some.

Just one of those quirks, that make him such an interesting person.

You didn't realize Earl was the inspiration for the song?

I'm sure everyone saw the news about Hank Aaron.  Phil Niekro passed away earlier.

Little Larry attended a horse auction with his father. He watched as his father moved from horse to horse, running his hands up and down the horse's legs and rump, and chest. After a few minutes, Larry asked, 'Dad, why are you doing that?' His father replied, 'Because when I'm buying horses, I have to make sure that they are healthy and in good shape before I buy. Larry, looking worried, said, 'Dad, I think the UPS guy wants to buy Mom

According to the University of Michigan’s student-run newspaper The Michigan Daily, the Michigan health department will suspend all Wolverines athletics for two weeks after a student-athlete tested positive for the B.1.1.7 COVID-19 variant. A student-athlete was the first confirmed case of the new virus variant in the state.

The pause will begin starting on Sunday, January 24. The Daily is reporting that there were five confirmed cases of the new variant and 15 more presumed positive cases.

The B.1.1.7 variant was believed to be brought over at the beginning of the new semester from a student-athlete from the United Kingdom. All members of Michigan’s athletics department are expected to quarantine for 14 days.

The suspension of the University of Michigan's athletic department will not affect Michigan State's athletic department.

Saw that Parts Unknown is on HBOMax - pretty easily the best travel show of all time and easy to go down a rabbit hole for hours.

Think Fleck would leave Minnesota to go to Tennessee?
