The photos are at COTA.  The LV location is out of town a bit, I'm told, didn't check it out closely, was two days.

The ATS-V was, I thought, a more rational car, the CTS-V had almost too much power to be driven on city streets in my view, if that is possible to have.  It was crazy.

We had at the time a CTS with a four banger.

can't be Texas, folks are wearing jackets
Yup, like Cincy said, that's the Circuit of the Americas on the outskirts of ATX.  As I recall he was here sometime in winter or early spring, hence the jackets.

The Formula 1 United States Grand Prix was supposed to be October 23-25, but the coronas screwed that one up.

don't blame them for not allowing yankees

those northerners would have been in shorts and shirt sleeves

Like me when I'm golfing in the winter down there

They had us drive it first in sections, like a sixth of the track at a time.  The back straight I hit around 140 mph before braking, hard, into a slower corner.  We also did skid pad and a slalom course.

They change the brake pads and tires after each single day events.  It was hard for me to really get down on the brakes because my usual driving I try and be smooth, racing is more about controlled desperation at the edge.

The tennis court area has a nice practice wall.  I've been throwing some into it of late.  It's nice to be able to throw without pain, still some deep pain in the joint.  I'm taking it easy with a rubber ball. It was coolish today, I wore a light jacket.

I wore a light jacket today.  18 degrees when I left the house.

scraped some frost of the windshield before driving to work

high of 36 expected - rain over night, maybe 3/4".  We need moisture.  I much prefer rain to snow.

no need to push rain off the driveway

In other news........... Texas BBQ in the San Fran Bay area!!!

No, there's no indoor dining yet, but several picnic tables outside have prime views of three more smokers, all of them working slowly but surely to produce Horn's signature style of "West Coast Barbecue" with influence from Central Texas, the Black South, and his own California roots.

Anyone who knows their 'cue knows that the key to the most tender meat is time—hours upon hours of time. At Horn, the smoker fires up in the wee hours of day, and the brisket cooks for a solid 18 hours to reach melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Other specialties include hot links, beef ribs, pulled pork, spareribs, and even turkey (you can order a whole smoked bird for Thanksgiving takeout). Everything comes by the pound or in sandwich form. For the sides, Horn shares his Southern favorites: corn bread, potato salad, coleslaw, collard greens, and his grandma's signature potatoes. Nina Horn, Matt's wife, takes care of dessert in the form of sweet rum cake and banana pudding.

It all comes together for a neighborhood gem we can really sink our teeth into.

"It's been surreal to be open and to see all of the love and support for what we do," says Horn. "People have been extremely supportive, and we do not take that for granted."

// Horn Barbecue is open 11am till sold out Friday through Sunday; 2534 Mandela Pkwy. (Oakland),
