Yeah, worth a shot.  I know a couple of people that really like Shiner Cheer.  For me, it definitely tastes medicine-y, as well. I'd guess it's coming from liquid flavoring extracts, a cheaper way to induce flavors into beer than going the natural routes.  bwar could explain it much better than I can.
