Heh.  Just looking for a distraction from politics.  I don't really feel strongly about it.

But I will say that if a friend told me, "Hey, don't get anything for lunch, I just went by this new sandwich place and ordered some kick-ass sandwiches and I'm bringing you one" and then it turned out to be a hot dog?  I'd be pretty pissed off.
There are so many small weird quirks here.

Like, if the hot dog kicks ass, might be fine. If it’s a sad hotdog, that’s bad, but if it was a sad regular sandwich, I’d also be pissed. If there are two, I’m less pissed. Also, if someone gives me free lunch, maybe I’m OK with it? Dunno.

Could I call a burrito a sandwich? The holding between two pieces of bread part seems stretched beyond recognition.

I like a sandwich far more than a hot dog.  If I'm expecting a kick-ass sandwich, then a hot god is going to be disappointing every single time.  If all I'm expecting is a hot dog, and it's a good one, then we're fine.  Bottom line, a hot dog is not a sandwich, and expectations should be set appropriately.

I would never call a burrito a sandwich.  But my Mexican buddy at the restaurant did indeed call his taco a sandwich.  So there you have it.

Sure, but I know some Wisconsinites who put ketchup on brats, so who's to say a Mexican necessarily understands Tacos?

I once dated a girl who called a sandwich a "sangwich."

She was hot and had a certain... morally casual attitude... so I let it slide.

Might as well find two unless you want it open-faced.

Speaking of which, is an open-faced sandwich really a sandwich? Seems to be missing one of the critical factors of the definition ("between two pieces of bread").

Red Hots, French Fries, and Tamales.
Does "red hots" equal "hot dogs" in B1G Country?
To me, they mean these things.
