I'm tempted to say conference championship games....which began because of conference expansion to over 10 schools.....except that they didn't play the other 9 when they were comprised of 10......so that's not it.

I still have to re-re-re-emphasize that college football limiting itself to only the top 25-30 programs would be a massive mistake.  More initial TV money, sure, but as the NFL exists, what good is an NFL-lite?
Stupid stupid stupid.

An NC State or a Texas Tech or a Pitt has value.
1 - can be an upstart and truly matter from time to time
2 - can provide wins for the blue bloods (yes, an 11-1 champ is more appealing than an 8-4 champ)
3 - provides lower-stakes opportunities for ingenuity and innovation (a la Leach Air Raid, maybe some triple option, or whatever will replace the current spread RPO).

If Napier was directly involved in this, he's in trouble.

It will end well enough for me, whatever the outcome.

Though it could be better if Napier stays at UF for a while longer.

Is it just me, or are the minor college sports getting more attention and attendance now than a decade earlier?

Well, I was thinking more softball and baseball, but it could be because the playoffs are starting now.  Stands seem to be fullish.

There are far more outlets that need content.  I have Kansas-KSU baseball on mute while working.  Might tune in later to see MSU's best tennis player in the Sweet 16 on ESPN+.  Those weren't even close to being options as recently as a decade ago
