We were talking at the bus stop today, and both of our neighbors who were Pitt season ticket holders learned today that they had each chosen not to renew their season tickets.  They have both owned for 15+ years, and one played for Pitt, and then was a GA there.  These were 15+ year PITT season ticket holders.  One upped his donation when he was emailed about retaining Jordan Addison, and they still lost him.  It's hilarious that the only thing keeping college sports afloat is the giant fan bases of a handful of schools, who mostly didn't attend the school.  They are banking on a bunch of people buying into something that is equivalent to being a die hard Toledo Mud Hens fan or a die hard IMG fan, for no actual reason.  Just rooting for random success of minor league teams or schools you didn't attend.  Because the actual alums of 95% of D1 schools are out

The WAC seems to be falling apart (Again).  Seatle moving to the WCC suggests that Gonzaga,  Ore St,  Wash St may not be staying in the WCC much longer.  Maybe a move to the MWC or PAC/MWC merger is coming

A&M-ND. OK.  I once would semi-watch GD, perhaps thinking their "picks" might be magically better than my own, or those here.  They weren't of course.  I've learned that different kinds of picks by humans are often flawed, and perhaps correct only by luck in many instances.

Stock picks
Wine picks
Beer picks
Picks on best city for whatever 
Athletic picks on whatevers

They are good for clicks, and not much else.  The stock pick item, to me, is self correcting anyway, if enough investors followed whatever guru was extant.

Well, wine/beer/"best city" are all matters of taste. Even "best city" which may be based on objective metrics, the choice of which metrics are used and how they're weighted is subjective. 

Stock picks or athletic pics are a right/wrong question. If you say a stock is going to go up and it goes down, you picked wrong. If you say ND is going cover vs A&M and A&M beats the spread, you picked wrong.

IMHO there are two very different classes of "picks".

A lot of stock "gurus" will further claim X is about to go up a LOT, rather than just up, or that the market is headed for a real break out, or break down.

By X, I don't mean US Steel.

Anyway, they are all examples of "experts" telling us what to think and believe.

Fair enough. I can imagine if you're extending on up/down to the analysts who not only issue buy/sell/hold ratings but also give price targets, I get you.

I've noticed that when a stock has been increasing, all the analysts predict it's going to keep increasing, and when it's decreasing, they predict it's going to keep decreasing. I don't find them to nearly ever pick a top or bottom.
