I just looked up pictures of Eureka, California-- it looks lovely.  Quite picturesque.  Too bad it's located in a shithole failed state. :(

Speaking of Eureka, did any of you ever watch the TV show on SyFy?  We watched it with the kids, they loved all the zany things that happen to all the nerds.

Eureka Nevada has dubbed itself as "the friendliest town on the loneliest road in America"

Quoted for truth.

What I wouldn't give to live on the 1/10th of a mile of acceptable beach, in the only acceptable state, in the whole of the USA.

Sucking sucks.

A couple million and you, too, can live in a place that's acceptable!

Been there, but can only confirm the second half.

If it’s where I’m thinking, it was on an incredible incline

They're not the ones that named it the loneliest road in America, but that distinction is inaccurate. It is not even the loneliest road in that state. Rt 6 is definitely lonelier than Rt 50, which traverses the Carson City/Reno area.

Fair enough. 6 for the most part was lonely enough for me.

You mean 50, if you were in Eureka.

Ignoring that both are cross country highways, and focusing only on the Nevada portions (Rt 50 in Nevada was the one dubbed as the loneliest road, not the whole thing) it is indisputable.

Rt 50 and Rt 6 share pavement from the Utah border to Ely. West of Ely they split.

Rt 50 goes through the State Capital and the Lake Tahoe region, which is populous. It also serves (on a grander scale) as a connector between the west end of Interstate 70 and Sacramento, CA.

Rout 6 on the other hand just sort of meanders through the wasteland between Reno and Vegas near Area 51, then ends abruptly at the first Highway that it encounters after crossing the California border.

Yeah, that's what I like about it.

Population density is overrated a f.

BB, I agree.  The fewer people you interact with, the better.
.
btw, for any of you thinking about offing yourself, may I suggest Kingman, AZ?  I'm stunned every day I fail to see a headline stating that everyone living there has committed suicide.

OAM, have you joined the VHEMT? You seem pretty sad about the state of humanity--I can't disagree--so I'm hoping that you've pledged not to continue the species...
