The majority of American sports fans are waiting for the arrival of a COVID-19 vaccine before they feel comfortable returning to the bleachers, according to a new study conducted this past weekend.

Two-thirds of the survey respondents said they would not attend an indoor sporting event without a vaccine -- even if masks and social distancing measures were being enforced in the arena. Among respondents who identified themselves as sports fans, 60% said they were waiting for a vaccine.

For outdoor sporting events, 58% of all respondents said they also were waiting on a vaccine rather than trusting personal protective equipment or social distancing to keep them safe in a large crowd.

The survey, conducted by Seton Hall University's Sharkey Institute, collected answers from 1,506 adults from across the country. The responses were collected from Nov. 13 through Nov. 16 -- roughly one week after Pfizer announced that an early trial showed it had developed a COVID-19 vaccine that was more than 90% effective.

A similar poll conducted in April, weeks after the sports world came to a sudden halt, found that 72% of Americans were unwilling to attend any kind of sporting event (indoor or outdoor) without the availability of a vaccine.

speaking of Christmas, I've been trying to get a new Xbox or Playstation for my little nephews for Christmas but it's literally impossible thanks to manufacturing/supply chains in China being screwed up by the China Virus and these god damn things only being sold online and not in stores- why they are selling only online- god knows why and I have no idea.

Anyway, apparently there are these computer programs called bots- which basically attack retail websites 24/7 and add items a cart and checkout instantly- and these computer nerds use these bots to collect street wear and exclusive sneakers to either keep or resell them and price gouge the living shit out of people on resell markets like eBay or Amazon and sell things at 5-10x retail price- and these asshole nerds have been turning their shoe bots to retailers to buy up all the already limited supply of Xbox/PS units. I saw an article where one person bought literally over 30 PS5 with bots and has been selling something that retails for $499 on eBay for like $2k a pop.

I completely gave up trying basically right away as it's impossible. Instead of buying them the brand Xbox/PS bought them Nintendo Switch with a bunch of Mario games.

Having said all this, I would seriously like to injure these sneaker bot nerds- and I have no idea why these retail sites and/or US law makers don't do something about these dumb ass bots and price gouging on eBay/Amazon. It baffles me actually.

I suspect the retail sites, if they wanted, could try to detect and restrict bots. But I don't know what lawmakers could do.

You know how to stop this? Don't pay $2K on eBay for a $500 item. But sadly, people are willing to do so.

Oh I'm not that stupid, trust me- I would never pay $2k for a $500 retail item. I have no idea why people are willing to do that.  Blows my mind. I think some are just desperate to get stuff for their kids for Christmas.

The retail sites really don't give a shit. They have zero incentive to stop the bots. As long as a sale is made and they collect their money- they don't give a rats ass. Why would they spend more money on IT/programmers to try to stop the bots- which in turn adds to their overhead and eats into their profit? Which let's be honest- the profit is all they care about. They don't give a shit about their customer.

The government can pass strict laws against them and the re-selling of items bought with bots- and enforce it. Hammer a nerdy botter or two and make examples out of them and throw the book at them and send them to prison for a couple years and the entire thing would crumble. These teenage nerds and jagoffs who live in moms basement aren't looking to do jail time.

Sure. I'd appreciate it, but don't waste their time or yours too much. My guess is they won't be able to do much. There is a very limited supply because of the China Virus screwing up production/supply chains and then the demand is enormous- and then you have the bots buying up literally everything instantly because the people who use the bots have them set up to basically attack the retailers websites 24/7- so as soon as any stock goes live on their sites they are basically instantly gone.

No - a number 3,3 decades ago and a LongHorns fan is irrelevance enough
If you think 3 decades ago is a long time, you should ask Fearless when the Kingston Trio charted their #1 hit about a man dying at the gallows!

My favorite Kingston Trio song is MTA.

Eh. It's arbitrage.

We've seen the exact same thing with concert tickets for decades.

But on what legal principal can you declare that property which you have purchased cannot be resold?
