Florida is in danger of becoming the new California.

New York is dead. Everyone from NY with money is moving to Miami-Ft.Lauderdale-Boca/Palm Beach.

All this money pouring in, home & land prices skyrocketing with no end in sight- and my only fear is these people pouring in do not do some dumb shit and turn this great state into the shithole garbage dump they were fleeing.
Haven't New Yorkers with money been moving to Florida to die since time began?

Anyway, this is the downside of popularity, especially when many/most of the newcomers share your feelings on the livability of the vast majority of the state.

there is nothing top-heavy or sluggish about this vehicle LOL. It will out run an out corner 99.5% of sedans and coops on the road.
it has some incredible new hardware including a separate anti-roll stabilization motor and rear steering at high speeds to keep it stable.

Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.91 g

That's C&D's figure for road holding, which is very good for an SUV.  My GTI does 0.89, with FWD, costing $30 K.  Skidpad figures aren't the be all of course.  (Tires play a big role along with weight distribution.)

2021 Cadillac CT5 Review, Pricing, and Specs (caranddriver.com)

An "ordinary" CT5 is at 0.92.

The Merc would dust them both on a road course due to much higher power to weight.  But the pure handling is not something out of this world.  Sedans in the same price range would beat them.  I personally feel that top weight in any SUV I've driven, I'm pretty sure this Merc is one of the best.

2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Gets a Glorious 668-HP V-8 and a Manual (caranddriver.com)

This one would keep up on a track easily and comes with a manual transmission.  But, we don't drive on a track, usually.  I found it to be very exhausting personally, but I'm old.

It reminds me of how I used to pass kids on a bike with some 18 speed bike in the wrong gear going up a hill, they had a bike costing 4x what mine cost but they didn't know even the basics, apparently, of how to ride it.  I still "lust" after a C8 Corvette, but where am I going to drive it at half it's potential?  I don't even stretch the GTI's.

It's a pretty obvious thing to live 6 months and a day in Florida and pay FL income taxes while keeping an apartment in NYC if you want.

I considered this dodge myself were I to live part time in say California.

ARod is buying the Timberwolves.

In other news, the renovated Seattle Center Coliseum just freed up 41 dates.

That is my point.  My kid in Texas said my property taxes in Austin would be over double what they are here same unit.  You have to pay taxes one way or the other ....

Georgia's income taxes are pretty friendly to retirees, if you keep a lid on income.

My property taxes are in line with Cincy for the same valuation.  Our house there was of course more sqft by 50% and with a very nice lot, but worth less than half what this one cost.  Location I guess.

Condos around us sell very quickly these days.  Keeping an eye on interest rates and inflation, that could end our nice run here.

Yes, but it's not like it's just all old people moving to Florida at the moment. It's a lot of younger people with money that are coming right now. Wall Street & Big Tech companies/execs/employees are coming here in droves also. And it's not just people from NY. The entire NE region is coming down in droves right now. I just sold a reno job to a couple from Boston area in their early 50's who bought a piece of junk production home built in 2001 all the way west- not even really in Boca- for $1.8 million. It's a nice gated community- with a bunch of fake little "lakes" and good size lots- 1/3rd to half acre- but the homes are complete crap and they are going to wind up spending minimum $500k fixing it up right before it's all said and done. House should be $1mil max. And they paid cash.

I also just bid a job a few months back- didn't get it- but it was for a guy from Michigan who bought a house in Boca on the water for $5.7 million- CASH- closed in 10 days. He was 42, his wife was 30. He wanted to rip the roof, do a new metal roof, do a 3,000 sq ft home addition to a 8,000 sq ft home- re-do the pool, add a bunch of new windows and glass to the existing structure- one of those huge nana sliding glass walls- do new garage doors with the glass on them- new elevator system- completely change the exterior elevation and do a new smooth stucco- gut the entire home and re-do it. That job was easily just under $2 million with all the crap he wanted to do.

Unfortunately- when it's a really nice place to live- people flock. All those flocking people usually just wind up making something really good go to shit.

Order up a variety pack, and try them all.

When you get done doing that, mix them all together, and then try that.

Gold Star Chili is the most memorably bad chili I’ve ever tried - yuck! 🤮

I warn anyone traveling through southern Ohio to stay away.

I've never even tried the chili over spaghetti. But every once in a while I'll pop in to a Skyline and get a couple coney dogs. Slathered in chili, mustard, onions, cheese, and that super tangy hot sauce - not bad. It's also the rare fast food restaurant that has waiters and gives you a little bowl of oyster crackers when you sit down.

Of the three chains, Skyline is the biggest. It has fully infiltrated the Columbus, Indianapolis and Louisville markets with a few one offs in Cleveland, South Bend, etc.

Gold Star is next. They have the Cincy-Dayton area fully saturated, but don't exist outside of that general area.

Dixie is the smallest and most obscure of the three chains. It is only available in Cincinnati's Kentucky suburbs.

There are at least a dozen one offs as well, including Cincydawg's beloved Blue Ash Chili that does the eating challenge.

Chili over spaghetti? WTF? Only in Ohio, I guess. Gross.

Thats not a coney. You lost me at the cheese and tangy hot sauce. Coney dog has chili, mustard, and onions. That’s it. I hate hot dogs- but the coney dog in downtown Detroit at Lafayette or American- could eat those every single day of the week.

Ooh you should try it - it's important the cheese is room temperature and finely shredded - then it gets a little melty by the dog and holds onto the hot sauce. When I studied in Oxford they had this street meat that was ok, but offered this super sharp hot sauce that really made it. I think the closest big brand I've had to it is Texas Pete's, so I try to keep that on hand.
