I'm not sure I want the government telling me who I can and can't sell my land to.

it's my land, if the government doesn't like my buyer, they can offer a better price
but our government would simply take it from me

I used to think that most flat-earthers and chem-trail people were really just trolling everybody, similar to how the Flying Spaghetti Monster people are just really trolling.  Then I met a few and I realized they are dead-serious.  I had a guy telling me the other day about the "ice wall" and chem-trails and lots of other major conspiracy theory stuff.  Wild.
Next thing you'll be telling me DB Cooper,Jimmy Hoffa,Amelia Earheart,a Yeti, an ET and some poker playing Dogs aren't having Hold'em tournament in the woods behind my house

No, they would not.
Unfortunately, under federal and state law, certain circumstances allow the government to take your land. This legal power is known as eminent domain. It is the right of federal, state, other governmental, or quasi-governmental entities, and, in select instances, private companies to take private property for public use.

The history of eminent domain in the United States goes back to its founding. Some of the earliest examples involved a burgeoning federal government seizing tribal lands held by Native Americans. This began in the 1700s, during colonial years, and continued throughout the 1800s.

The U.S. military conducted many of these seizures, while others involved treaty agreements. Perhaps you’ve heard of the Trail of Tears? This infamous and tragic historical event occurred in the mid-1800s.

The U.S. government forcibly removed Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek, Seminole, and Cherokee tribes from their homes. These tribes were then made to march from the southeastern part of the United States to what is now Oklahoma.

Eminent domain continued to be utilized throughout the 19th and 20th centuries and remains legal today. It’s a means of allowing the government to claim private property for public use. Other early examples of eminent domain include the federal government using privately owned land to expand highways, construct public buildings, bring water to populated, rural areas, and manufacture war materials.

a) we are not at war with China. trade war/economic stand-off does not equal war. they are an adversary and a threat to US global hegemony for sure, but we are not at war with them.

b) no foreign national or foreign entity should be allowed to own land anywhere near American military bases/outposts on US soil. how this isn't already law is beyond me.

I beg to differ. War doesn't strictly apply to military operations.

Press secretary is a thankless (and now fairly pointless) job.  I don't think many (any?) last a full term

Biden had 2

Trump 1.0 had 4

Obama (over 8 years) had 3

GW (over 8 years) had 4

Clinton (over 8 years) had 5

GHW only had 1, so you have to go back 30 years
I wouldn't say it's a pointless job, the government needs to conduct interviews and have some sort of accountability or face to the public.

It's just that the entire reason for the job is to lie and push state backed propaganda. People in this country for a long time have just actually been stupid enough to believe a word that comes out of the mouth of the chief state propagandist. I feel like more people are aware of the fact that most of what comes out of the White House chief propagandist is bullshit- but it's always been mostly bullshit.

a) Have you missed all of the recent (and much older) news articles about China sneaking spy gear into batteries, solar arrays, and pretty much anything else they manufacture and sell to the USA?  Not just with the capability to watch or listen, but to actively disable or destroy American infrastructure?  China's been at war with us-- real war, not just economic war-- for decades.

But you are correct if you're suggesting that the USA isn't fighting back, and therefore we're not at war with them in a practical sense.

b) agree

They've identified 3 Chinese nationals voting illegally, or trying to smuggle bio weapons in, working at or attending UM in the past week.  Granted, I don't blame them, if there is one university proven to be pro-spy, its them.  :88:
