allowing more American funding of trade schools
The Big Beautiful Bill doesn't send cut finding from higher ed to trade schools.

That said, if the aim is to improve the balance of trade, and hurt funding for American universities, rather than to encourage Ohioans to head east, eliminating foreign students is dumb.
As long as Stephen Miller is in this administration, this is a feature.

well bright side is the football team will get a lot better. Chinese math nerds and Indian doctor nerds aren't good at football. Ohio farm boys are.

My very broad view of US politics is that 40% will always vote Dem, and 40% will always vote Rep.  What determines outcomes is that other 20% and turnout.  So, we end up with negative TV ads costing billions and two candidates for President selected by the most ardent from each party who then tries to pretend they are moderate.

Usually.

In my opinion, we're just getting very poor quality candidates from each side.  I quit.
pretty much this. the system has been completely hi-jacked by the big money special interests. Pelosi had control of the Dems for so long because she could raise the most cash. whoever can raise the most money typically wins elections and/or controls a party. this lends itself to getting politicians who are for sale to the highest bidders, completely hollow, stand for nothing, will say anything to get elected and weasel word salad their way to the top. the type of people attracted to running for office in the first place are narcissistic psychopaths. yeah sure there are some idealists who wind up thinking they are going to actually change things and then get into power and get buzz-sawed and beaten down by the system and the deep state and become jaded and part of the corruption party- but those people are few and far between- most people in politics are already corrupt jerkoffs and that's why they get into politics in the first place.

As George Carlin used to say- garbage in- garbage out. USA Inc. is open for business and up for sale to the highest bidder- AIPAC, Wall Street banks, Big Tech monopolies, billionaires- whoever raises the most money from these sources typically always wins elections and/or controls the party. Trump is a phenomenon not seen before in modern American politics- so him aside that axiom has basically been true the last 35+ish years for virtually most elections.
