geez, we have enough paid holidaze

why not pay people to get a "free" state or federal issued ID and then pay people to vote
we all want better voter turnout - hand out $20 bills or something
This is why I feel some of you are out of touch.
A business can swallow an unproductive day every 2 years.
An individual who is working all the hours they possibly can just to break even cannot abide a day without pay.  Not one.
Why be so flippant about it?
Elon tried bribing people to vote, didn't turn out well for him, did it?
It's not the cost of the ID.  It's the time it takes to go get one and then it's the time it takes to go vote.  And in the poorest areas, have they not decreased the number of voting precincts (esp in Texas)?  Even with higher voter turnout, they're closing polling sites left and right all along the south.  Wonder why it's so regional.  Also, if I'm poor and don't have a car, it takes me much longer to go get an ID, to go vote.

You must know this.

Get yer ass out of bed and get to the polling place at 6AM. Then go to work.
Your ignorance is substantial.

I don't recall ever spending much tim voting, but I know that isn't always the case.  If it takes say an hour to vote, give folks that hour, by law at some point in the day.

Really, if it took longer than an hour standing in line I wouldn't bother (I don't anyway usually).

How many folks have jobs where they can't really find time to vote?  You can vote early, vote on weekends, vote by mail.  I dunno, maybe it's a big problem for a lot of workers to get an hour or so to go vote before or after work???

Maybe.

So if an entity made it so it took you 2 hours to vote in an attempt to prevent you from voting, they'd be successful.  Hmmph, I wonder why they do it.

We voted early at a place near us last election (I was simply curious).  I'd guess we were in and out in 20 minutes, no line, steady stream of people, and I know that is not universal.

Move voting from Tuesday to Saturday?

In Chicago people find the time to vote early and often.

Welp, I guess it just takes an hour, even if you take the bus to the polling place, then another bus to work.

Just 1 lil hour.  For everyone.  So convenient and easy.

the original statement that the federal death penalty had been abolished is still factually untrue.

You have a MONTH or more to vote in most places.

There's an actual attempt at a fix.  Good job.

Ah, damn.  Many poor people work Saturdays, though.  They don't have the luxury of a 5-day work week.

we could pay people $50 to vote and still not get 50% of the public to vote
the people who care enough to vote make it a priority and vote - the folks that don't vote don't care
when there's substantial hate for Trump, there's substantial motivation to vote and large numbers turn out.

I personally do not believe in voting, I don't find it useful or having a point, so I'm unusual.  I don't consider it my "civic duty" at all.

So, no I wouldn't spent much time in a voting line, never did even when I thought I should go vote.  I don't like voting for judges and folks where I have zero idea who they are and ballot issues that run on for a thousand words or more.
