Harris, in my opinion, was a terribly flawed candidate (I'm not speaking about policy, just how she came across often on the campaign trail).  And she almost
She lost 100% of the swing states, and I think she lost the popular vote as well ( I don’t dwell on the popular vote these days).

popular vote doesn't count - why worry about it?

A completely open seat is a different animal in any case than an election with an incumbent. Should produce better candidates (but smacks head realizing the quality of the candidates in 2016, the last time it happened).
The Democratic establishment learned all the wrong lessons from 2008 during the run up to the 2016 primary cycle. Instead of figuring out why the electorate rejected the expected coronation of Hillary in 2008, they made damn sure that she would be the nominee. That's why Bernie beating her in Michigan should have been a giant red flag of potential producers in the fall.

As for Harris, I still think she was the best choice given the timing of Biden's withdrawal. That said, it's also clear that he should have announced his withdrawal at least a full year earlier than he did, to allow the party to run a full open seat primary. And who knows what would have happened had that been the case.

Gov. Walz is showing more leadership this afternoon down in the state House chamber than the current occupant of the Oval Office has shown since January 20.

She did, but each of those states was really close.  It would not have taken a lot to have flipped them.  I think she lost when she said on "The View" she wouldn't have changed anything Biden did.  It was a pastry question, and she blew it.  Lack of prep.

I think folks were "fed up" with inflation and some other things and voted against her rather than for Trump in many cases.

We don't need Harvard.

We need doctors, nurses, engineers, electricians, plumbers, welders, carpenters, manufacturing.

Screw Harvard.

Harvard isn't going away, and they do educate doctors of course, and nurses, and PhDs in the sciences.  I know they do quite a bit of research which is Federally funded.  One can certainly point to some of that which one would consider of little value, research can be difficult to justify.

My neighbor got his PhD at Harvard, which means little of course, he's a fine fellow, GaTech professor of physics for 30+ years.  His main interest is photography and travel.

I had a boss who was a PhD from Harvard, he was one of the "sleepiest" bosses I ever had.  He just didn't care, a state I didn't understand at the time.  I was still pushing.

We interviewed some folks from there a few times, I wasn't all that impressed with them, you can find good folks and bad from about anywhere.  The elite candidates are all spoken for well ahead of time anyway.  They don't interview.

This is yet another thing that makes the current liberal hand-wringing about the "rule of law" impossible to take seriously.

Harvard et-al were ordered by the Supreme Court to stop discriminating on the basis of race and rather than follow the order they actually doubled down and INCREASED their discrimination based on race.

The next liberal I see who finds this problematic will be the first.

we have too many lawyers and politicians - Harvard's alumni can fund their endowment - not tax dollars

There is a marked difference between Federal money used in grants for research and any endowment.  They aren't the same things, not interchangeable at all.
