I wonder if we will ever have a Gen X as president?  I don't think Kamala was Gen X.  Not sure about Vance.  Technically, Biden was not a boomer.  I think Clinton and Obama were Boomers.  Biden was "silent generation".
I've wondered the same.  It seems GenX just doesn't have much interest in it.  It's also a much smaller generation than those surrounding it, so just by pure mathematics, is less likely to fill as many positions.

Vance is a Millennial, I think.
Xennial is more technically correct, but they're all pretty made up.

It was my first election that I was able to vote in, I missed the '88 election by a year.  I proudly voted for George the 1st and told all of my college friends they were complete idiots who had let MTV decide their vote for them.

I was very tolerant in my youth.

It’s good you grew into a better hang.

I very clearly remember the MTV VJ Kennedy being anti-clinton in either 92 or 96.  Totally against the grain.

Well xennials ARE millennials, but you're right, it is all sort of made up and there are obviously some blurred characteristics around the boundaries.

I actually consider myself more of an Xennial, even though I'm clearly at the tail end of Gen X (1975).  Many of my friends in my childhood were xennials, and I have a lot of the shared experiences with that class of people.  It was only like 4-6 years, I think 1977-1984.  Or something like that.

I remember her in '92 doing a spot promo on MTV wearing a ballroom dress with a sash and holding flowers, like a pageant contestant.  The sash said "I SUCK."  She briefly said something about how MTV had asked you, the viewer to vote on worst VJ, and she won, and how proud she was.  I don't know if it was a real thing or just for fun, but if it was real, she took it pretty well.

I don't remember her at all.  My VJs were Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, J.J. Jackson, Alan Hunter, and Martha Quinn.  And of course Kurt Loder doing the "news."

It was certainly a turning point for many.

I've heard that a lot, and I don't doubt it was true, especially for younger voters.  I still think Badger's point was the most relevant factor.  Nearly 60% of voters did not vote for Clinton.

It seems generally accepted--though I have no idea if it's accurate or not--that Perot's votes were taken from Bush, mostly.  I was just looking at the voting data from that election.  19% seems huge for an independent candidate.  Perot had some juice.

It's funny, I remember this vividly because she was one of my favorites.  I think it was just all part of an act.
I had no idea she was a big personality on Fox news until recently, I had no idea what she was up to in the last ~30 years.

Some of the people I voted for in the past I would not vote for now, even the ones that lost.  Honestly I thought Clinton was a good president, Reagan was the best, Biden the worst, GWB 2nd worst but not terrible.  I never thought Obama was great or terrible, he did the job with dignity.  I wish GHWB had won in '92, still not really sure why he didn't.

Here's a big reason.....pretty famous clip.

I don't understand the criticism of moderates at all.

Looks left:  wow, they're extreme.  I'm not that.
Looks right:  wow, they're extreme.  I'm not that.

Whether one takes pride in that or not doesn't really matter.  A moderate is simply (today) not extreme either way.  And how is that not a good thing?

A moderate can align with the Dems on some things and the Reps on other things.  Again, what's wrong with that?
And moderates are the only ones keeping our country from being 100% extremists, so I'm all for that.

There is no inherent flaw to being moderate and I tried to make that clear.  Being a moderate may very well be a good thing.  I was pushing back against the idea that its necessarily better than being more extreme.  Any of them have the same burden to prove the merits of their ideas.

We didn't even have cable in my literal neck of the woods until the late 80's so most of these guys were gone by the time we got MTV.  I think Martha Quinn hung in there in a special show or two for awhile.  I remember Julie Brown, Downtown Julie Brown, Kennedy, and a couple of others that escape my recollection.  I think they VJ's kinda faded out in the early 90's.  MTV was such a culture staple in the 80's and early 90's.  I explain to my kids all the time how we would go to a friends house to watch MTV and just watch videos for hours, like that was a thing.
