When you back up the invented problem with a legislative "fix", it gives the invented problem a semblance of being real.  Period.

Yet another disgusting display by a particular party, with the backers of that party shrugging and asking "what's the harm?" 

A perception exists among SOME that the election laws here were inadequate to ensure less fraud.  The new bill was meant to address that impression, while doing relatively little in real terms.  A LOT of legislation is largely imagery, and this is no exception.  Imagery, on BOTH sides, folks calling it "Jim Crowe" are just are wrong as folks who claimed there was wide spread fraud in Georgia this past election.

Imagery, a LOT of politics is imagery.  And this bill did almost nothing to limit voting rights.  Disgusting display?  That's an opinion.  To me, it's close to a nothing, it did clean up some vague rules in the previous wording, to the extent it was needed, like "work hours" now meaning 9-to-5 for early voting.

The actual restrictions here are far less than many other states have like NY and DE.

A good habit is to look past all the imagery and spin and seek what actually happened and why.

The actual substance of this new law is pretty moderate and changes relatively little.

Voting laws here remain more liberal and open than in many other states.  We retained "no excuse absentee voting".  Check how many other states allow that.

The angst is misplaced, and the spin is epic, which is par for the diamond.

If someone voiced an actual substantive objection to a specific that would be nice, instead of generalities which often are simply incorrect.

And of course, at least SOME of the "left wingers" really are quite a bit Left of the mainstream in the country.
