We walked down through the park to our favorite Thai restaurant for lunch, we were their only customers, happy to see us, and it's really good. Walking back on the Beltline I stepped on the edge of the concrete that was covered with leaves and there was a drop off, 3 inches or so, and I went down. (I have bad ankles.) A group of about five rushed over to me to see if I was OK, and helped me up. I was fine, I kind of learned how to fall when my ankle starts to go. They were very nice folks, offered to take me to the ER if needed, I had to persuade them I was OK, I guess when you see some white haired old man go down you think the worst. We chatted a while and some other folks had seen me fall and gathered around and it was like an old friends meeting. I was completely unscathed fortunately as it was a mile or so from home.
It reassured me that MOST humans are nice, caring, thoughtful individuals. We tend to remember the bad acts.
We got almost home where the main street turns into a one way, it's not well marked, and a lady in a car started driving the wrong way. I started after her but another fellow coming the other way flagged her down, she managed a U turn in the street, not much traffic, a couple cars patiently waited for her to reverse. Nobody honked.
Then we stopped at our building and chatted with a couple on their deck drinking wine.
And our neighbor came over to finish setting up our TV, DirecTV sent out new boxes and the old ones quit working yesterday.
