Is it just me, or are Ohioans extraordinarily fierce about Ohio in a way that other Midwestern state residents are not?

To some degree everyone comes to the defense of where they are from.

I am (Illinois) not like that. I'll bash the place all I want to bash it. There's nobody here to call me out. Heh.

Is it true that California is charging businesses $20 Billion to pay back Federal Covid loans? I read that somewhere and could not believe that to be true.

Wisconsin people are pretty fierce about Wisconsin in my experience. Iowa people too.

I've been around Atlantans who will get pretty defensive about their city.

The streets are paved with gold etc.

Texans are pretty nonchalant and not overly proud of their state.

Brunswick Stew
Korean Sweet Potatoes
Kimchi Slaw
Sweet & Spicy Tofu
don't think I've seen those on a BBQ menu

For you Floridians, a question about the Sunpass mini.  I attached mine to the car today, and the outside of the pass is a black rectangle.  I've seen on line folks attaching there and the outside has Sunpass on it in green.  I attached it to the inside of the windshield as instructed, but after peeling the backing off, the exposed site is black.

Brunswick stew is very common around here at Q places, the Korean stuff is not.

It's probably Clevelanders more than Ohioans. Specifically because hollywood and media and seemingly everyone under the sun thought it's been "cool" to take shots at and shit on Cleveland for a long time because the river caught on fire 100 years ago.

Imagine being happy and proud of where you live and most people that know jack squat about it, shit on it all the time? Or do it about your family.. or you to make it more personal.  Cleveland is full of a lot of gritty, blue collar folk that would rather throw down rather that let be ok for people to run their mouth. A city full of underdogs.. now mix that with having big hearts like so many folks in the midwest and "fierce" is what Clevelanders are.

Mine were green, but now we have the Sunpass Pro, so I don't know if they changed it.

From the Sunpass site:

I'd give them a call.

Never been to either one , but as a Texan somebody from Michigan shitting on somebody from Ohio is just plain hilarious.  Because, to me, Ohio =\= Michigan. North, cold, and north.

My impression is that the regionalism varies a lot depending on the size of the region. While I'm a proud Californian, I have more pride in my Bay Area roots. California is a big place, and has several really distinct locales with distinct cultures. My impression is that folks from Wisconsin tend to think of themselves that way: Wisconsin is the unit (and has a bit of a chip on its shoulder). Ohio is probably big enough to have several distinct places that people think of themselves as from. NYC is very different from upstate. Boston is different than anywhere west of Boston in Massachusetts.

Texas appears to have a curious statewide affect, despite it's size, but I'm sure there are intrastate rivalries. I think I've heard that Miami is fairly distinct from the rest of Florida, but maybe I'm wrong. I suspect Georgia is kind of Atlanta and not Atlanta--I bet that's true of a lot of states with a big urban center, and large more rural areas. Certainly within Wisconsin, Madison and Milwaukee are distinct from the rest of the state.
