We spent a few weeks each summer at my grandparents farm.  My routine included getting up fairly late and getting eggs from the coop, my grandmother would then cook the eggs for me, over easy, with sausage or country ham they made, and of course biscuits.  I took it for granted.  The hens didn't really like my stealing their eggs, but they didn't resist much.  They were free range, could get out into the barnyard and peck at things I didn't look closely at.  The cows would mull around some and then head to the pasture.  You had to be careful around the cows in spring because they were coming off hay all winter and their fecal matter could be explosively released.  They had a corn crib with leftover corn cobs, very dry, and a sheller, and I'd at times shell some corn, the hens would really go for that.

The eggs were good.

We don't buy store brand eggs. They suck.

On Tuesday, the NCAA officially placed USC on a one-year probation and fined the Trojans $50,000 for coaching violations. According to the NCAA’s ruling, USC had 8 analysts engaging in on and off-field coaching duties during the 2022 calendar year and the spring of 2023.

As a result of those activities, USC exceeded the number of permissible countable coaches by 6 over 2 academic years. Along with probation and a fine, USC received restrictions on their analysts for the 2024-25 season.

Lincoln Riley was found to have violated head coach responsibility rules. However, it was determined that some of the violations pre-dated a rule change and Riley fostered an atmosphere of compliance.

Because of those distinctions, Riley avoided a personal suspension. Here is a snippet of the NCAA’s explanation:

Head coaches are presumed responsible for the actions of their staff, and as a result, Riley violated head coach responsibility rules. In this case, however, some of the violations occurred before rules changes effective in January 2023 that shifted head coach responsibility rules from a rebuttable presumption to automatic attachment. Because Riley was not personally involved in the violations and demonstrated that he promoted an atmosphere of compliance and monitored his staff, Riley rebutted his presumed responsibility for the violations occurring before the rules change. For the same reasons, the parties also agreed that a suspension penalty for Riley was not appropriate.

With the team trying to get some of its swagger back, the Trojans announced on social media that the Trojans would be rocking some 1970s-era throwback jerseys. The jerseys are the 1972 alternate classic that coach John McKay introduced to USC, and that Trojan team went on to go 12-0 and were named consensus national champions.

I got news for you, they all come from the same place.

Not when you get them from a local person and you can go to their back yard and actually get the eggs yourself, see the living environment and witness the feed. Anything mass produced is garbage, which can be said of most industries.

I was referring to store bought eggs which was what he was discussing. I thought that was quite obvious.

We generally don't buy eggs at the grocery store. We go to locals either at their location or the farmer's markets. I didn't have time for that in advance of his visit, so I looked at the higher quality options at Publix and just said no. Publix brand were $4.29. Most eggs were sold out.
