Not that my advice is worth much, although it’s honestly probably the best piece of advice for anyone, but if you can get some practical skills, go get them.

also, don’t think you can come back to calculus. Once you take a break from that. the knowledge atrophies fast.
Who the F would want to anyway?

I was worried that might be true, but it's come back to me pretty easily whilst tutoring my daughter.  Not quite as easily as the Physics where I remember almost identical problems and how to solve them, but a little bit of reading of the text (online nowadays) and I'm able to get her moving in the right direction.

Yeah, I suspect that it'll be like that for me as well. Not that I can *do* calculus any more, but probably that I can understand it well enough, with a little textbook help, that I can identify something he's screwed up.

I mentioned here that last year when he was taking AP Chem he was struggling with a problem. All his classmates were struggling with a problem. They were going back and forth via text / etc and nobody could figure it out. And it was easy--they were doing something like finding the final temperature of a cold piece of metal put into a warmer liquid (or vice versa), and they were coming up with an answer that was not between the two--it was colder than either. So, OBVIOUSLY wrong.

I told him to bring me the textbook. He brought me the class notes. I told him to bring me the textbook. He did. And within perusing a few pages, I figured out the error. "Hey kid, you see how this is supposed to be negative in the equation? Try it that way." And suddenly it all came out fine!

That was when I taught him what RTFM stands for :57:

NERDS!

Now show me some differential equations, and linear and matrix algebra.

Otherwise, I'm @Cincydawg and unimpressed.

DiffEQ is super easy.  Just use a transform and solve via algebra. :)

I also thought Matrices and Linear Algebra was a pretty easy course, but I haven't looked at it in 31 years.

You can't spell geek without a EE.

I learned those things. Linear/matrix algebra has a lot of use in EE. So at Purdue beyond multivariate calc, we were required to take discrete math classes for both DiffEq and Linear Algebra.

But... I'm DAMN happy that my son won't have to encounter those classes until college when he won't be in the house and I won't have to help him lol!

I was looking up at the "art" I have in my office, none of which is art, but it all has sentimental value.  One is a painting, which I guess is art, of that last INT in the UGA NC game a few years back by Ringo.

My kids gave it to me, it's kinda neat.  It feels like "we" haven't won an NC in ages.
This MF right here…

In my world, most engineers are just spreadsheet manipulators.

We’re running/operating things, not necessarily building them.

Nah. We design stuff and observe the construction to ensure compliance.
