For those not familiar, Reddit leans very far left.
I always find this kind of phrasing a little bit funky. Because even if a website like that has some kind of nominal political bent en mass, it’s functionally meaningless most of the time. People do not consume the aggregate content of a place like a Reddit or Facebook or Twitter or whatever.

You could create a great conservative echo chamber on almost all of those websites. You could probably create those. Human brain can’t consume the amount of information that would be required to get an overall feel for a website like that.

I’m guessing that a lot of the description of something having one bent or another comes down to particular newsworthy actions of management. And the vibes that result from them. Because let’s face it, even if you wanted to licked your political Will on a readership, it would be functionally impossible at scale, unless you were using hamfisted and imprecise methods. And when you do that for normal user experience stuff, it’ll often capture political stuff and create a kerfuffle anyway.

Adoption would be good. The line is out the door for people wanting to adopt children.
Maybe make adopting a kid cost less than a house would be nice, too.  Another broken system.  Plenty of kids needing to be adopted, plenty of people wanting to adopt.....BOOM!......a high-cost brick wall in between.

What pisses me off about the abortion debate is the nutjobs wanting to ban it 1 day after a woman's period is late (6 weeks and less) and the other nutjobs wanting to be able to abort very late.  Both groups are stone cold fuck nuts.

THERE'S LIKE 7 FUCKING MONTHS BETWEEN THESE 2 EXTREMES!

So much gray area, so much potential common ground, compromise sauce to figure this shit out in, and it's somehow THE thing for many 1-issue voters.

It's embarrassing that we don't have a middle-ground cut-off timeline on this - embarrassing for everyone on every side of it.

If we can create the 18 year-old cut-off of being a minor vs being an adult, we can do the same for abortion.

Oh, and the other thing that pisses me off about this is the crowd saying "it should be in the states' hands" clam up and shrug when I suggest drilling it down to the county level.

They're full of shit and spewing nonsense if they advocate for a localized law on abortion.  Put Texas and local in the same sentence.  Put California or Montana or Florida and the word local in the same sentence.

If someone seeking an abortion would have to drive to the nearest large-ish urban area instead of the nearest other state, and you pretend that's an ethical issue, you're a massive ass hat.  And fake.  And shitty.

Do it county-to-county so no one has to drive 10 hours for a reluctant, serious medical decision.

Just calling it like I see it. I do browse it anonymously, and I see left leaning positions far more than right.

I think certain sites just have something akin to gravity for certain political viewpoints. Liberals post to Reddit, because liberals post to Reddit.

Facebook, in my view, is somewhat even. You can find plenty of left, right, and center positions on there. The caveat is that you really need to create an account to see most posts, and then your feed will not be neutral, it will show you whatever it thinks will keep you engaged.

I was cheap, by the pound.

The birth parents were massively fat, according to my parents.

I mean, 500 million people post to reddit. I go on there for football scheme stuff on occasion. I don’t totally think that the football scheme stuff or restaurant recommendations in My Home city necessarily dovetail with politics.

That being said, I think I remember them shutting down some right leaning subreddits the had gotten to a certain tone. And I understand that may have caused some self-selection out. Both by people who use that certain tone, and by people who felt the shutting down of those sub credits was a sign they were not welcome.

but as you said, you kind of manicure your own experience. I’ve been on Twitter when it was a liberal hellhole, and now that it is apparently a conservative hellhole, and most of that isn’t inflicted on me because I stick to the non-algorithmic and mostly follow people that suit my interests.

I have no idea why it's so expensive. The lawyers cost money, but it shouldn't cost a $150K to adopt a kid.

Are the birth mothers making money on this? I'd like to know.

I know a lady who was a surrogate for two gay men, twice (one for each guy's sperm) and she got paid.

I don't know how much though.

Do it county-to-county so no one has to drive 10 hours for a reluctant, serious medical decision.

Don't know if this is directed at me since I statedI believe in removing this issue from federal jurisdiction and pushing it down to the states, but I'll respond by saying I don't object to the idea of pushing it even further down, to the local county or municipal level.

I just don't think it's practical and I don't think the states are going to go for it.

However, you've already stated that you dislike the absolute, extreme views on this subject and wish there were more room for compromise.  So you should understand that removing it from federal governance is exactly such a compromise.  Sure it's not all the way down at the county level where you want it, but at least it's not at the federal level.  This is a move in the direction that you have proclaimed to prefer.
