I don't know if this woman's fears are accurate, but if they mostly are,  this looks bad to me.

Going to hear Rhapsody in Blue this evening, always a fun gig.

There was a marching band at the Texas State competition last year that did a pretty clever and skillful show blending Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" with Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody."

I'm pretty sure it was called "Rhapsody." :)

The Department of Education did it, not the President, I realize there is a link potentially.

I've read that Gershwin was not very precise in his original writing, and left a lot of room for interpretation by performers.  I heard the Cincinnati Symphony perform "American in Paris" as it was thought to have been written originally and not rescored.  It was quite interesting.

There aren't many 20th Century composers I like much at all.

That's why there are like a half dozen musicals (most well known being Crazy For You), that are just Gershwin musicals created posthumously, just rearranging his songs

Don't you understand?

When a President from the party I don't like is in power, anything good done by the executive branch has to be attributed to underlings who did it, probably contravening what the President wanted. But when a President from the party I don't like is in power, anything bad done by the executive branch was directly his work, micromanaging and doing it all, no matter how miniscule or how many layers down from him that a decision would normally be made.

Interesting.  I'd say there are LOTS of 20th century composers that I like. They're just not concentrating on writing symphony orchestras or piano concertos, but rather many of them are doing movie scores and musicals.

I absolutely adore John Williams.  And I'm also a big fan of Ennio Morricone, Maurice Jarre, Danny Elfman, Andrew Lloyd Weber, Claude-Michel Schonberg, Gershwin, Sondheim, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein, Phillip Glass, Aaron Copeland, and Maurice Ravel (among many others I just don't recall at the moment).
