That's a lot of good stuff, but I don't see the word "evidence" anywhere. Well thanks. But you didn't ask for "evidence".
I would ask, though, what specifically in those texts you mentioned steered you towards believing? So that's what I tried to address. That's about as "specific" as I can get. I'm not sure I have the capacity to condense or abridge either Lewis work mentioned, without doing it injustice. And not sure I would, if I could.
Tell you what -- if you're really interested, I'll be happy to address specific topics that he covers. Here's the table of contents of
Mere Christianity , if that's helpful. One thing -- if you want to continue this conversation, do me a favor and PM that you've responded. This is a monster thread -- four or five pages added, since my last post. Most of it stuff I don't have the slightest interest in. So I won't know if you've responded, unless I get a notification.

Counting the Cost 10. Nice People or New Men 11. The New Men Now, my experience is that these conversations tend to peter out at this point. And -- all due respect -- but when people begin to demand "evidence" for the existence of God -- as in "empirical evidence" -- what they're really looking for are confirmations for their unbelief. The evidence for God is necessarily inferential. When it becomes "empirical", faith will no longer be needed. Or possible. Even the evidence for the existence of Jesus is inferential, as it is for nearly ALL figures from antiquity (the Egyptian Pharaohs would be exceptions. We have their mummies). We infer that Julius Caesar existed, because of historical writings. Stuff named after him. Etc.
Same with Jesus. We infer that a story that features actual historical figures -- Pilate, Nicodemus, Joseph of Arimetha, Peter, Paul, John (the Baptist and the Apostle), Felix, Herod(s), Festus -- on and on -- has historical basis. And the fact that He had followers who lived lives of toil and deprivation, and came to agonizingly bad ends, is further inference and indication of Jesus' existence. People don't die for something they know to be untrue.
Let me know if any of the above provokes a response.
Otherwise: my work here is done.
Y'all be good -- heah?
Oh -- one last thing. A really good presentation of MC, in video form, if anyone wants to get a taste.
