Maybe we shouldn't have local tax dollars funding schools.  Maybe the poor neighborhood schools should get the same tax dollars as the nicer neighborhood schools.

In Texas, a certain portion of a local district's tax revenue can be appropriated by the state and sent to districts that the state considers under-funded.  The state government calls it "recapture" but most everyone else refers to it as the "Robin Hood" act.  Robbing from the rich, giving to the poor.

In an outcome that surprises absolutely no one with any intellectual capacity whatsoever, it's a failure.  It has not helped the poorer districts in any tangible way, but it certainly has harmed the districts that are getting robbed, as they are now in a constant state of cutting employees and services to the students.  It's a government-mandated and government-orchestrated race to the bottom.

Austin Independent School District pays out over 50% of its revenue to Robin Hood recapture, watching all of that revenue get shipped hundreds of miles away, meanwhile its own students are suffering, schools are cutting services, and educational outcomes are declining in most metrics for success.

When I see this many posts this close together in this particular thread, it leads me to believe that I should not bother reading back.

(shit, the post above this one has some thing that I’m curious about and now I have to decide if I want to delve in)

Isn't this called a reality check?  Sucks to not get the funding you need, don't it?

Lol. Them anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorists at the Cleveland Clinic!
Maybe if the Browns were funded like the Clinic down the Road they could pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Doubt Dr Malone would stoop to what ever Deshaun,Myles or Denzel are making

If all of those who try to segregate their children would just populate the neighborhood public school, everything would be better.  Not perfect, not 'fixed,' but better.
But the wealthy kids go to expensive private schools to create a ruling class.  We're gradually making the public schools worse so that we can have a servant class and keep the prisons full.

Well, now I went and did a little reading on that. That system is buck wild. Very dumb, and I guess stuck because they don't have a better system.

Weird stuff.

My school district isn’t lucky enough to be rich nor poor, so we don’t get any money and we don’t give any money. Most of the neighboring districts are rich, but some don’t have to give up any cash because they have enough enrollment.

The numbers it's pegged to seem in theory well-intentioned, but ultimately an issue.

Chris Christie apparently going to announce his bid to run for President and go for the GOP Presidential nomination. Lol. This guy is such a loud mouth windbag fat sloppy fk- that no one is going to vote for. Ever.

Can someone get this fat fk a lifetime gift card to Krispy Kreme so he'll just fk off and go away forever? He'd take that bribe imo.
What's wrong with Hostess,Dunkin Donuts,Tim Hortons? Dafuq learn how to bribe. In the meantime time give Brandon,Pelosi & Feinstein their sippy cupps and depends and send them on their way

Krispy Kreme where it's at bro. Chris Christie is a fat disgusting slob, so you're right- probably would have to get his fat ass some gift cards to all those places.

Couldn't agree more. Brandon, Pelosi, and Feinstein belong in nursing homes....not in major positions of power and running the fk'n country.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I find Krispy Kreme donuts to be pretty average.  I mean, they're tasty. I'll eat one when it's the only option.

But we have several local bakeries that produce a superior product IMO.  With the added bonus that they also bake and sell kolaches and klobasnek.
