The other one oft cited is screaming fire in a theater of course.

Calling for the armed takeover of government is illegal.

Conspiracy can be illegal.

But once you cross the line into this and that the grey starts.

In Germany, it is ILLEGAL to say publicly the Holocaust never happened.  Illegal.  You get torched with a Jewish space laser if you do.

Blackwings Are Cadillac's Last Gasoline V-Series. Should We Mourn? (caranddriver.com)

The great reveal thingee was mundane IMHO.

The pace with which EVs "take over" is going to get interesting.

It should always be noted that the bolded point comes from a case in which a person distributing flyers that said people should resist being drafted into WWI could be convicted of espionage. The precedent has basically been taking to pieces.

Tim Cook is a faggot. And I literally do not mean that in the homosexual derogatory way- I could give a shit less what he’s into or his sexual orientation.

I mean it in the grade school talking bullshit with your friends way when one friend was being a little whiny bitch over nothing and one of your other friends would say to the whiner- quit being a faggot dude.
What an oddly gross post.

I have no problem with across the board censorship applied fairly to everyone but that is not the game they are playing

these chat services have become so big that they could be considered a utility like the phone company

the more they do this crap the closer they come to being regulated

I really dont understand why they are poking the bear
They're exercising free association. Down the road, it'll probably burn the other side.

But it would be a nightmare to regulate. Just about impossible. And it would open up so many avenues for abuse. Actual first amendment abuse. For now, it strikes me as a case of the dog chasing the car. But if the dog catches the car, it's gonna actually have to figure out what to do.

These 2 things became linked and that's what makes it a slur.  So we don't use it anymore.  Because of this link.  It's called evolving.  Try it.

The only restrictions on free speech imo- obviously direct threats of violence or harm on someone- or direct calls to go harm someone or break the law- maybe hate speech to a degree- but aside from that everything is wide open. Freedom of speech is a damn good thing.

Google/FB/Twitter are the internet today. They are the public square.
FB/Twitter doesn't seem hard to avoid at all.I did sign up for a GOOGLE e-mail account so I could post on You Tube. The Bastards then banned me - True Story. And didn't even have the common courtesy to respond to my inquiries as to why.Good thing I only used them to post.I've had a Hot Mail Accnt since '96 and nary a problem.Should be called Goonle

It depends upon who gets to decide what is considered "hate speech" and what isn't. That is a very slippery slope.

Correct.

The key part of free speech is that for it to be truly free, some of it is going to be disgusting and horrifying to a great many people. That's the beast and the bargain.

I too have avoided social media. No Facebook, no Twitter nor Instagram or any of those other things. This forum is about as close as I get. And even here with what little I post, I seem to rile peoples feathers. I find it best to just read and keep most of my opinions to myself.

Tell me why hasn't the Government prosecuted Finestein & her ilk who dumped their stock on que last February. My portfolio got pummeled after that - I effed up I trusted the wrong people. And Pelosi buys TESLA stock and miraculously Sleepy Joe plans to cut the EV Market some benefits. And of course the Hedge Fund/Robinhood scam last week - nothing smells there. If you've been a decent soul and played fair by the rules laid out I can clearly see why some one, some where is going to twist off in a big way and sadly it almost needs to happen

A thing I find interesting, often, is I might correct someone's post, pointing out a clear error or maybe just providing some context, like the full quote.

I then get assailed as being a "communist" or "right wing retard".  I don't mind, but I rarely get asked what I think about the topic.

Several posted a deeply flaw "tax analysis" meme of what happens to a person who gets a raise to $15 an hour.  When I note that isn't how tax brackets work, I get called a communist who wants $100 an hour.  No, I just prefer correct data and information.
