I'm pretty sure this was the last year that the champions of the B1G and PAC are tied to the Rose Bowl. Maybe one more?
Yay, progress.

CFB seems to be changing much faster than it ever has in the past, and some of this is not very good IMHO.

I believe I read here that there are barriers coming to the portal soon.  Something along the lines of restricting the schollys for a school taking a kid from the portal.  I don't remember the details but it added up to schools needing to be sure about taking up space with a transfer kid, which wouldn't directly affect entry into the portal, but it could indirectly affect it in the long term with schools needing to be more sure about the long term with taking a kid from the portal.

Damn right.

Buddy texted me as halftime approached (and Purdue was still within striking distance). I told him Michigan vs Purdue was like Purdue vs a MAC team. Sometimes that MAC team can hang for a bit, but once you hit the 2nd half the depth and talent of the better team takes over. Only if there are multiple turnovers after that, can the lesser team hang around and threaten in the 4th qtr. And just like that, Michigan pulled away in the 2nd half.

I didn't watch it and feel really good about that decision.

My rule would be "until they win a Rose Bowl" if I didn't live ~60 miles from the stadium and feel like if they actually made it there I'd have to go.

Purdue has lost the benefit of the doubt. I'm not getting emotionally involved in their sports. I know how it ends.

You might think you missed nothing by avoiding the bowl, but I'm telling you, seeing Drew Brees on the sideline coaching with the Boilermakers was spectacular.

Maybe you're not a Brees fan, but you should be.  Everybody should be.

While we were out of town, this block got largely demolished.  It used to be some rather scuzzy apartment buildings from the 50s.  It soon will be a high rise development.  The nice Italian restaurant on the block closed and is moving a block away but that building is not quite finished.

I love Brees, and it was a cool sight to see.

But his coaching went about as well as his broadcasting.

Well, be fair to the guy.  He had limited time to work with effectively a lot of backups, and was going against a team where probably 14-15 of the starters were nfl caliber.

I don't know that he would be a good or bad coach if he got into it, but I wouldn't judge him based on the bowl.

That said, my comment was just tongue in cheek.  I love Brees, I miss seeing him, and the camera panning to him a few times on the sideline was the highlight of bowl season for me.

I'm not sure Brees, Alstott, or Gene Keady's haircut could have helped much in that game.

I'm picturing a faux war movie - the Russians are invading West Lafayette.....it's called "The Combover Offensive!"
