We stayed a couple nights in Traverse City a while back, that area of Michigan is pretty nice ... in summer.

Also stayed three nights in Marquette on the waterfront, another nice city, in summer.

I could never understand living up there.  I had to go up once in November, and the wind off the lake touches everything.  You basically spend 9 months of the year in bitter cold, and the 3 great months are overrun by tourists

just saw that James Caan passed away today at the age of 82. Hell of an actor, he's in two of the best movies ever imo- The Godfather and Brian's Song.

The evaporator is still out, several more days to repair apparently.  So, we're off to Asheville for two nights.

They have rain in their forecast unfortunately, but it's cooler, and they have AC.

Catching up on the news from this week. Of course we all know what happened in Highland Park, IL on Monday. Terrible act. Did not know that the VP was in town to speak on Tuesday.

She did not travel a little further to the South to talk to the people City that had more mass shootings and more dead. 68 injured, 8 dead.

This is a real, and true, problem. We have a major affordable housing shortage in this country. I really wish "we" would do a better job of taking care of our own here.

With that, I wonder if this is just an end game of really, really efficent markets.

It doesn't pay to build new affordable housing. Institutions with low barriers to entry can scoop up a lot of property. Plus everyone and they G-D mother is looking to get into having rental properties for passive income. Unfortunate times.

(If you can't tell, I've been somewhat passively looking to buy for a bit, and also am about to be trapped in an apartment that's good, not ideal, by rising rents)
