Day 2,394.  Copenhagen still.  My Danish is coming along nicely.  My bank account is not.  There are worse places to be stuck.

We have a Sunday return scheduled is we can both pass the antigen test Saturday.  Doctors are not open here weekends.  No 24/7s.  So, we test Friday to see if we are both neg and hope to stay that way Sunday.

We needed no test to get here, just to get home.  Almost zero masks here, a few Asians with them, city is wide open.  It is akin to Paris with less crime, begging, gypsies, and litter.  A TON of bikes, really amA zing how many.  We walk a lot, 5-6 miles per day.

no matter how much you folks squeal you cant take my guns away from me just because some nut job committed

this horrible act

Over 40% of households in the US have a firearm.  Theres an estimated 393.000.000 guns owned by US citizens

So if you want to take away all guns owned by citizens go for it

Who are you even addressing here?!?  What planet are you on???

What specific Common Sense new gun laws would prevent such things and how?

In Texas, something can cause you to get so pissed, you want to shoot and kill them.  You don't have to wait to buy the gun.  You don't need a license to carry it.  And if you buy it privately, you face no background check.
You can immediately go and murder the person you're pissed at.
Here's a fun thing I learned today:  in Texas, there is no age restriction in private sales.  You could literally sell a gun to a 10 year old.
.
Boy, I'm glad cars weren't around when the Constitution was written.  We'd have guys with 10 DUIs driving around, spouting off about their Constitutional rights to drive.

How about mandatory background checks on all gun sales?  Certain people bitch about all the Mexicans sneaking into the US, but seem to ignore the 6.6 million guns sold with no background check needed each year.  Weird blind spot to have, especially when even 3/4 of NRA members support this idea.  But certain congressional members don't even want to put it to a vote.  Hmmm.
.
High-volume magazines on military-style guns - the guns that mow people down probably aren't needed for hunting or to stop a home intruder.  They're really effective when I have a room full of children I want to shoot, though.
Those guns were designed for one thing:  killing as many people as possible in one go.  Not home defense.  Not Constitutional rights.  These are weapons the founding fathers couldn't fathom.

Anyone suggesting we stick a gun in every classroom or arm teachers, etc is the kind of person who loses at tic-tac-toe.  No one has done that here yet.  Just don't.
It's a "more guns" idea that lacks any thought or depth.  It's stupid.  Don't be stupid.

This is correct.

how does “ the right to bare arms” include high capacity assault rifles?

We now know this nut purchased them easily, on his 18th birthday. Does anyone here really think that’s ok?

We now know he posted threatening stuff on social media prior to getting the guns.  Is anyone really ok with that?

I own a handgun.  I keep it at my house.  I have never needed to use it. Nobody has ever threatened to take it from me.

For what legitimate purpose do I need an assault weapon?

More common sense gun laws won’t completely solve this- but it sure as hell would reduce the ability for these nut jobs to do so much killing so quickly. Why can’t we make it much harder for people who have these thoughts to do it so easily?

Why can’t you have to prove yourself mentally fit to purchase a weapon, and why do we allow assault weapons in public at all?

All weapons are assault weapons - IF, and only IF, they are used in an assault.

I enjoy shooting at the range. It's a lot of fun (and not cheap). My wife likes it too.

We don't carry though. No need to around here.

In Florida there is a 3 day wait and background check, unless you have a gun permit. We are taking the Florida class the weekend after next - 8 hours.

Have you been to Amsterdam?

The bike is their city symbol. It's nuts there.

This kid shot his grandma, and was being pursued by 2 law enforcement officers.

He crashed his car outside the school, and engaged in a gunfight with the 2 officers.  He shot both of them, then entered the school and randomly started killing.

He was more heavily armed and therefore  was easily able to defeat the two law-enforcement officers.

How did we let an 18-year-old, who was bullied as a kid because of a speech impediment, and who posted online warnings about this, by a high capacity assault weapon on his 18th birthday?

Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

Youre right and you cant take my guns

If this guy had previously shown what a nut job he was then somebody could be accused of dropping the ball

but so far I dont see any indication of warnings he might have sent out

Tell me wise one what law could we have passed to keep this from happening other then taking all guns away from the American public'

You guys are quick to use the deaths of these people to further your political agenda

The Presidents speech tonight was nothing but divisive

It was, and so were the comments from #44. #42 actually had great comments.

I can get behind all of that, as opposed to this kind of crap:

Some needs to ask #44 about Waukesha and that "SUV violence" at the parade.

yeah, arming teachers is a stupid idea lol.

I just wonder how this stuff even happens. Cause my little nephews elementary school down here in SoFL is on LOCK DOWN. School is in a really nice neighborhood too. And they have police up the ass at the school, if any sick f**k even attempted- there'd be about 20 police officers within seconds lighting them up.

Maybe put more police at schools and have leos track and check up on psychos like this that they know about basically 24/7 instead of having them be useless donut eating, pulling people over and writing traffic tickets asswipes.

this is all insane and stupid af. literally cant' believe it's allowed.

Should have to be 21 to purchase a gun, mandatory background checks for sure and maybe even a psyche eval/test, and you should absolutely need a license to carry- and private sales should be handled by 3rd party who does the background check and should be same 21 year age limit to buy- and everything should be recorded by that 3rd party- time/date name/address/id of seller - same for purchaser. This should be national law and supersede every state law.

Everyone who applies for a gun license should be given a penis pump.  That's all they are truly asking for, without asking for it
You should get out in the real world more often.
