Florida is the least affordable place to live in the U.S. (msn.com)
home prices and rental prices have gone through the gd roof post corona. Thanks in large part to everyone moving here. DeSantis is too good at his job and the authoritarian lockdown left governors were too bad at their jobs. People with the means to move from those disaster blue states simply had enough and said f**k it, I'm out. Don't know the exact number of people from California, Michigan, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania who have relocated to FL permanently- but it's a f**k ton. Florida was already getting tons of new residents every year- this whole corona lockdown left crap just kicked it into overdrive.

300K new residents in 2020 and 2021. And there are thousands a day moving here currently.

There are at least 3000 new SF lots going in within 4 miles of me, in Punta Gorda. Also a ton of multi-family going in to the South in Cape Coral, not to mention tons of new homes being built there. It's nuts!!

TWTR is going to "manage" content, they have to, maybe less than before, but at some point a platform just becomes so rife with obvious garbage and disinformation it no longer is appealing to anyone sane.  I think over time we'll see less change than some hope and expect, or it devolves into an absolute mess of BS.
of course there will be content moderation. you can't have a place be a cesspool. no one will want to use it. breaking the law (inciting violence, crime) and bullying and harassment will always be dealt with.

what you won't have however is Twitter censoring the oldest newspaper in America for reporting a TRUE story. You won't have them banning a f**king sitting President of the United States of America either. You won't have people getting banned for talking about the possibility of the coronavirus leaking out of a lab- which is what Twitter was doing at the height of the pandemic. You won't have parody accounts getting banned for posting memes (Babylon Bee). All of these things were HIGHLY inappropriate and just flat out wrong.

Probably also won't have the stupid "fact checkers" anymore either- who are mostly compromised and have conflicts of interest and get sh*t wrong just as much as they get it right.

Twitter algorithm will be open source- nothing hidden- nothing in the dark- (like it is now)- we'll get to see exactly how it works.

Musk needs to fire all of the partisan hacks in the "content moderation" division- really just fire the entire division, get rid of all the "fact checkers" and warning labels on Tweets, reinstate people like Trump and Alex Jones, open up the algorithm and bring it to the sunlight and you'll see Twitter probably grow. Twitter has lost immense amounts of credibility because of all of the insane policies they had been implemented by unhinged left wing authoritarian nutjobs who took control of the company and chopped Dorsey's balls off. Musk is going to take a chainsaw to the company and fire all of those pink haired I need a safe space and a warm blanket mommy losers.

I don't find it at all surprising that major corporations owned mostly by one person are owned by billionaires.

The largest shareholder for most of them is Blackrock and Vanguard and JPM et al.
yeah, it's not surprising.

what is surprising is mainstream media reaction to this. now all of a sudden they want to sound the alarms and act like it's unprecedented for a billionaire to own/control a major media/internet company. Never had a problem with it before. Now that a billionaire says he's going to open up the platform that he OWNS- now they are big mad. It's beyond pathetic.

They went from trying to tell people that if you don't like the new twitter where people get banned for nothing and there is censorship up the ass- then go make your own version of a twitter....it's a free market. Private companies can do what they want. Well.....if you don't like the new new twitter....go start your own. It's a free market. Elon Musk can spend his money how he wants- and private companies can do what they want.... :043:

I don't know that main stream media collectively has had some kind of overly harsh reaction to the Musk/TWTR thing that I've seen.  Some personalities here and there have.

I THINK the reactions on both sides are misoverestimations.
