Analysis of notable trends: Halfway through fiscal year 2022, the cumulative deficit has fallen relative to last year and is now comparable to pre-COVID deficits. Through the first six months of FY2022, the federal government ran a deficit of $667 billion, 61% less than at the same point in FY2021 ($1.7 trillion) and in the ballpark of the FY2019 and FY2020 deficits, which stood at $691 billion and $743 billion, respectively.

Revenues remained strong, rising $418 billion (25%) from the same period in FY2021 to a total of $2.1 trillion during this fiscal year to date. Increases in individual income and payroll tax receipts rose by $357 billion (24%) and drove much of the overall surge in receipts. Higher total wages and salaries, especially among upper-income workers who are subject to higher tax rates, contributed to the increase in those tax revenues, as did the receipt of some payroll taxes that pandemic relief legislation authorized companies to defer from 2020 into 2021. Corporate income tax revenues rose by $22 billion (22%) year-over-year.

Thats great

We should reelect the Potted Plant for another 4 years

That way we will have another 2 or 3 million illegals pour into this country give them cell phones and free medical care and make them citizens

Our inflation rate will make Venezuela look like a Swiss Bank

and our fuel price will be $12/gal

They won't let me give blood anymore. The burnt orange color scares the hell out of the doctors.

What I’m seeing here is that they wouldn’t have a problem if they didn’t freely speak on an issue of high political interest. That if they agreed with the majority, and the politicians in power, they simply would not be punished for that speech.

(While it might be interesting to relitigate corporate personhood, for the moment, that is the law of the land. Citizens United made sure corporate persons had wide ranging speech rights. And if businesses can get punished for stances they take, we will be looking forward to a future of the government exacting more control over businesses overall)

I would like to know who specifically is being jailed for free speech at Disney? They still enjoy free speech even now. However, sometimes that speech comes with consequences. They decided that instead of being a theme park and an entertainment industry, they wanted to dive into politics. Well guess what? They are now knee deep in politics.

Personally, I hope Disney goes bankrupt and is taken apart and sold off to the highest bidder. It won't happen, but I can dream.

So what you're saying is you feel good about the government, either side, imposing consequences on businesses for engaging in political speech, as long as it's short of jailing people?

I guess we have different outlooks on this. But as long as you're fine with the potted plant in charge or Gavin Newsom handing out those consequences, your position makes coherent sense.

Had no idea a certain someone here is a libtard/shitlib and it sorta amazes me that they still don’t know what free speech actually is.

Disney did not just “ speak on it”.

That’s a false narrative.  They said they were going to engage in a legal battle with a mission to get that legislation overturned.  There is a big difference there.

Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that.”

The statement added: “We are dedicated to standing up for the rights and safety of LGBTQ+ members of the Disney family, as well as the LGBTQ+ community in Florida and across the country.”

Florida citizens brought this to the legislature and governor. They won't want their little kids learning about nuts and glory holes and trans and whatever else. It can wait until high school, if even then. Let kids be kids. Jeez.

So it's really Disney against the people of Florida, isn't it?

Ahhh, so the government can also punish you for engaging in the legal/political process. Good to know.

Wouldn’t that imply that opposing the government at any point is opposing the people? That seems flimsy at best.

(FWIW, one can actively oppose teaching certain things to those kids, and still find fault in parts of that law. The weirdest thing is that those pols didn’t even include glory holes in the law. Seems like they don’t have an opinion there)
