i wouldn't say its bad... i wouldn't say its good, either.  its one of those involved in the class action suit and lost.  the thing is, as if you were to hire a tax accountant/CPA to file your taxes, THEY get to pull up a chair and are in just as warm a pool as YOU are if you're audited.  It seems turbotax and H&R Block took the easy way out by basically disallowing certain actions to be taken- meaning your filings would be conservative no matter how you did them while using their software... unless you outright lied, that is- there is no help (and ought not be) for a liar.

and see thats the exact reason I like turbo tax

my taxes are so straight forward they are boring

I dont itemize because I paid my house off so its pretty simple

but I hear what you are saying

I understand that, but don't want to give the IRS the chance to interpret aggressive as fraud and then have to defend myself in tax court

well I cant argue with that

I like to leave the IRS alone also

For most folks,  taxes are pretty straightforward, no business expenses etc., no Schedule C.  Some income, 1099s, W2, boom, done.

The standard deduction is so high now, most folks won't get near it with regular deductions.  The SALT limit plays into that for some.

CNN+ will shut down April 30, just one month after launch (cnbc.com)
Setting aside one’s politics, as ideas go, that was about as bottom of the barrel as possible.

You have a channel that is functionally without a constituency. And it already provides content all the damn time. At least the other 24-hour networks could provide more potent brain rotting trash to freak partisans. And it’s not line CNN can trick people into “actually, I’m paying for something of higher quality.”

Its simply a matter of not having any depth in their programming.  The people want what they want and cnn does not provide it

I am officially retiring from doing taxes for companies and individual when I finish the last of the ones I still have to do.  Absolutely tired of trying to keep up with the ever changing tax laws for my clients who have complicated returns.  Almost all of my clients have fairly simple returns and the people could do it themselves with turbotax.  I finally told me kids last year, I was no longer doing their taxes, showed them how to use turbotax.

Personally I am tired of the doing my own taxes, This year 100 pages in total.  Schedule 1, Schedule 2, Schedule A, 2 schedule C, Schedule D and all kinds of various additional forms. And btw the SALT limit sucks.

I appreciate it now, because low tax states should not be liable to fund high tax states.

Back in Illinois, not so much.

Our property taxes are 1/5 of what they were up North, and there is no state income tax here. Back up North, my state income tax alone got us well past the $10K. Here, we can't even get close to $10K.

We walked down to New Realm Brewery and had lunch on their rooftop bar.  Nice day.  Pretty good food, but beer is $7 each, which is a bit steep.  Below is a view of the Beltline from the roof.
