so, I would guess many of us can see stars pretty well just outside our house or within a few miles

I'd guess folks like Cincy that live in the middle of metro areas have too much ambient light or light-polluted city sky.

Obviously, I'm out in a dirt field.  Star gazing is easy here.

For Badger, if he's a few miles off shore, it might be even better

Heh, we could save ourselves a lot of time by posting a Nation-wide weather map each morning.

Just spotted the "Christmas Star" tonight. Pretty cool.
That was a great sight.
It wasn't QUITE this clear last night, but it was pretty cool indeed.

Florida has been placed on one-year probation and coach Dan Mullen has been given a one-year show-cause order after the NCAA determined that the program violated recruiting contact rules on two occasions in 2019.

Mullen was found to have failed to promote an atmosphere of compliance and will be banned from all off-campus recruiting activity during the fall 2020 evaluation period. He was also given a four-day off-campus recruiting ban during the fall 2021 contact period, and the university banned him from recruiting for the first 10 days of the January 2020 contact period.

Yeah, and I have a decent telescope.  The odd thing is I can't use it, even with the least "powerful" lens, they are not in the same field of view.  Binoculars are better.  I'm going to try tonight at the French restaurant.  Light pollution is a lot less there.

This is weird in that Florida/Mullen has already served most of the penalties.  This is some late-ass reporting, lol.

It's amazing that god made all those other planets with nothing on them, just for us to look at through scientifically-created telescopes.
