Yeah, but in your part of the country a good wine pairing is Taco Bell with Baja Blast.
Perhaps we should try Dago Red with a bag filled from the dollar menu @ Burrito Bizzare
Suburbia:Where they tear out the trees & then name streets after them.

That was my question.  We have "upscale" French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, etc., but upscale Mexican sounds like an oxymoron.
Seems like it would serve what the upscale people in Mexico City eat when they go out.

Is that a fat joke?

I had Japanese in Paris and "Mexican" in Lyon.  The former was good, the latter was OK, but odd.  I had German in Strasbourg, but that isn't unusual.  Choucoute, I'm not sure how to spell it.

I also had seiche once, not really recommended.

My advise for dining in Paris is to walk until you have not seen an American in 15 minutes, and then walk another 15 minutes, and then find a spot somewhere in a neighborhood.

A thing I have learned about France is that hotel restaurants can be superb, really superb.  I would rarely dine at a Hilton here in the states unless under duress, but I have had great meals at Hiltons in France and Brussels.  We stayed at a B&B in Normandy three nights and dined there every night it was so good.  That was in Bayuex, which is an excellent base for seeing Normandy.

My uncle has an extensive genealogy of the family, four sizeable books on it, rather confused books.  Near as I can tell, my surname is a tradename like "Smith" or "Miller" from England.  The first fellow came over early 1600s to Virginia and his brother was ship wrecked in Maine, or landed there by accident, something happened.  There is an island there with my surname, along with a city in Tennessee.

No whales, or Welch, apparently.  I have a good friend named Welch.

And, no. No tacos, burritos, enchiladas.
What else is there?

I just asked because Wales--not home to whales or people named Welch--is right in the center.
It occurred to me that your surname name might possibly be an anglicization of a Welsh name that doesn't have any vowels except for letters that are sometimes vowels and sometimes consonants.
But evidently not.

I got some more really good feedback on my book from an Army guy whose son graduated from VMI.  I have some work to do.  He did say he enjoyed the book after it "got going".  I may need to trim/cut much of the initial parts.  He called out quite a few typos as well, which I can appreciate.

I called Maxcy Greg General Maxcy in one spot.  Bummer.  He was rather flamboyant apparently, maybe I should flesh him out a bit more.

I don't see how anyone much survived those battles.  At Second Manassas, several regiments stood in line in the open at 60 yards having at it, with rifled muskets.

I'm also amazed how many of the wounded survived.  And how many disease took, I probably should note that.

Book Three is coming along now, I had to bring in Nathan Forrest of course who takes a liking to our "hero".  Jackson is prepared to assault Grant near Memphis.

So, well, I changed things a bit.  I think Grant is going to win that fight.

well, I guess I wouldn't be there for more than a day or two.  a week tops

if I spent more than a couple months I might be tempted to get some Mexican food no matter where I was

Yeah I'd been in France for over two months when I finally broke down and let the locals drag me to that Mexican place in Nantes.

Big mistake.  Huge.
