The "MW" decal is the car dealer - MotorWerks of Barrington. The other one is a motion W. They can come off without harm to the paint.

Oh okay. Depending on the vinyl, it can leave some residue that can be a bitch to get off. Magnets are generally better because they come right off and you can reposition them if you need to, but if they are the wrong kind of magnet material they can fuse to the car once they get wet. Then you are really screwed.

They are actually plastic, coated with chrome, with a sticky tape to adhere. I'm told they remove pretty easily.

Man, I'd've gotten two and tried one on your fridge first, but it's a bit late for that obviously.

The adhesive ones generally go on the glass. You have to be careful not to mangle them with your ice scraper, but you don't have to worry about that anymore.

They look good though. Like they belong.

If the chrome is first surface (on the outside of the decal) then the sun might eventually bake it black. If it is second surface (printed underneath the plastic) then the color will hold, but it might get left behind when you peel up the decal. That was a really big problem with football helmets.

The best way around it was to print it first surface, and then laminate it with another protective layer. Best of both worlds.

I refuse to have anything identifying the dealership where I bought a car on the car.

I've already paid for the car. If you want me to advertise your dealership, you should be paying me for that privilege.

The worst thing that you can do is put something religious or political on your car because no matter what it is there is bound to be some guy out there somewhere who takes offense to it and they might tamper with your car. Sports decals can be problematic as well. A Wisconsin decal in Florida is probably safe, but of you are rolling around with a Michigan decal in Columbus or whatever, you have balls of steel.

youse guys are a bit sensative

I'm not going to much trouble to remove the auto dealer's logo from my vehicle.  Especially if the process may damage the finish.

that said, I don't put stickers or decals on my vehicles.

I also don't have tattoos on my body.

I do have a couple Husker magnets I throw on if I'm driving to Lincoln or to an away game.

If I worry that removing the decal will damage the finish, I make the dealer do it before I take possession of the car.

I might take it to a detail shop to have them remove the one. The W stays.

I'm sure they hate to see you leave the lot.

LOL... I'm actually not that bad. Most dealers don't really even do that any more with the decals around here. They put on their license plate frames, and I drive off the lot with their frame on the car--and change it when I get home.

The only time I've had to do that was when I lived in Atlanta, which is Neal Boortz country. He made a point of talking about the same thing on his radio show back then, so I'm pretty sure all the Atlanta area dealers are used to it.

I've also never understood the concept of wearing a T-shirt that says something like "Guess Jeans" on it. Really? Do I need my shirt to advertise my pants? Who would wear such a thing? (Turns out, a lot of people...)
