Majors like art history are fine with me so long as the numbers coming out match the numbers needed in the job markets. There is a clear need for STEM majors, but STEM fields are "hard". So folks major in "sociology" where opinions matter and anything goes, basically. My org chem class started with 180 odd and ended with 33, I heard that many of the missing went to business majors.
As for Ukraine, I am not seeing much risk that US forces will be directly involved, so I don't know why anyone is proposing otherwise as an option. Russia is equipped for land combat near its borders. Ukraine might be a tough nut if they want it all. I have no clue how many "Russians" are in Ukraine now and would welcome an anschluss. They could have a lot of Russians in their military that could do considerable harm.
