Next stop is the wine bar and an Italian restaurant for my wife's birthday dinner with her dad and stepmom.

Our celebration is tomorrow.

ELLIOTT, Iowa (AP) — A coalition of California restaurants and grocery stores has filed a lawsuit to block implementation of a new farm animal welfare law, adding to uncertainty about whether bacon and other fresh pork products will be much more expensive or in short supply in the state when the new rules take effect on New Year’s Day.

The lawsuit is the latest step in a tumultuous three-year process of enacting rules overwhelmingly approved by voters but that remain in question even as the law is set to begin. Since voters approved Proposition 12 by a 2-to-1 ratio in November 2018, state officials have missed deadlines for releasing specific regulations covering the humane treatment of animals that provide meat for the California market.

Most hog producers haven’t made changes to comply with the law. And now a coalition of business owners is seeking more than a two-year delay.

UK judge reverses ruling on appeal, says Julian Assange can now be extradited to the US. This is awful, awful news. Freedom of the press and the first amendment under serious attack by the US gov't.

love it. and I love Gordon Ramsay. That says a freaking lot about the current state of California if Ramsay is moving his operations to Texas. He's been in Cali for a long-time, and has even lived there for years.

makes sense. why pay insane taxes and be told what to do by a corrupt do-nothing gov't like the gov't of the state of California? people are meant to be free and pay some tax. people are not meant to be told what to do and treated like a child and taxed into oblivion ontop of it.

Right now it looks like his only plans for new Texas restaurants are in the Dallas/Fort Worth areas.  But I'd like to see him come to the ATX as well.  And Houston has a lot of money and a surprisingly cosmopolitan population with a diverse food culture.  It'd be a no-brainer to open up there.

California will require indoor masking once again starting Wednesday, following a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases since Thanksgiving, health officials announced Monday.

The new mandate will be in effect from Dec. 15 to Jan. 15, Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly said in a briefing Monday.
