Sadly it's been in Webster's since 1934.

But you still sound like a doofus if you say it.

Regardless, you still sound like a doofus if you say it.

As is being fragile enough to care.

I don’t get on a flight expecting the aesthetics of the population to be pleasing or matching my arbitrary standard. Unless they're actively doing something that affects me, why on earth would anyone care?

A certain percentage of the kids on campus here wear them to class.  Girls, pretty much exclusively.

Can't tell if the college females are getting objectively homlier or it just seems that way because when I was in college, they cared what they looked like in public.

Interesting. I lived in a college town until about 5 or so years ago, and my thought was, “these ladies are dressing in a way my 20-year-old self would’ve preferred to how they dressed when I was in college.”

There was a phase here a few years ago where kids were all wearing PJs to middle school and high school but that seems to have passed thank goodness.

They apparently all graduated and went to college here.

My stepson said he noticed it after the pandemic.  My loose theory is some got used to remote classes and not getting dressed, and then decided to continue the trend when campus opened back up.  But, I have no idea when they started doing that, or why.

I should also mention that my contact with/exposure to the students is pretty limited, so the little bit I'm amongst them may not be a good sample size.

When I lived in San Marcos.....the TX St. co-eds around that town made my head spin.  It was hard to find non-attractive ones.  My inclination is to think that wasn't that long ago, but, realistically, that's a generation ago.  Those kids could have kids in college by now.

Damn, I'm old.

When I was in MS and HS, everyone cared how they dressed.  Granted, was that an Eddie Bauer unbuttoned flannel?  Sure.

In college I definitely noticed a change in my last 2 years, that carried over to the following couple years.  The fun part was all of the sorority girls that got up at 5 am to do their hair, and makeup, and put on a pair of $200 pajamas to go to class.  They didn't look homely.  They looked like they were trying very hard to look like they didn't try at all.

I noticed a slight shift back to dressing up a little more, that I think went away post pandemic.

My oldest is now in MS, and while the boys still dress like shit, I've noticed the girls starting to dress up more for school again.  Granted the girl his age that lives around the corner from us is also out taking selfies against the sunrise when I'm walking the dog at 6:45 am, and that's the most old man I feel, is wondering WTF she is doing.  If she wants to be out that early, I'll pay her to walk the dog

Oh boy, it's happening...

AAA is starting to turn into an old man yelling at clouds.

It brings a tear of pride to my eyes.
