Fresno and San Luis Obispo are definitely not SoCal. NorCal socal divide is somewhere between SLO and Santa Barbara.

Fresno is Central Valley.

California is 17% Asian American. That’s not a fetish, it’s demographics.
Yep. I'd say Santa Barbara (technically Goleta, but nobody's heard of that) is the northernmost town on the SoCal coast. Once the tunnel on the 101 cuts under the hill away from the water, you're in the Central Coast area.

Inland, I'd probably call Palmdale and Lancaster still SoCal, but once you hit Bakersfield you're in the Central Valley.

Tough one. I could go either way.

There's a part of me that wants to call it "high desert" instead of SoCal, but IMHO it's close enough that some people might be commuting down the hill to jobs in SoCal, which wouldn't be the case for someplace like Bakersfield.

So I'm gonna punt that question and say I honestly don't really know. I wouldn't argue for or against.

I'll betcha UCLA is double that, at least.

Undergraduate Demographics
  • Asian: Often the largest group, with numbers around 35% in the general undergraduate population and ~39% for first-year students in Fall 2023.

I always thought it was....weird....that Microsoft owned Skype and let it die.  I think it was really popular in the early 2000's, maybe 2005ish time frame.  I think at some point Ebay owned it...and then Microsoft...and then it dies.  When Covid started Zoom took over and Skype was already established.
