We all know GT won a NC in 1990.
UNC had a few 1-loss seasons in the past 50 years.
Any guess to UVA's last season of fewer than 3 losses?  I was 4 years old (1984).
Fewer than 2 losses?
It pre-dates the ACC.  1951.

I'm not sure if/why UVA matters to anyone.

Many believe UNC and UVA are "joined at the hip", which could be true.  And there are sports other than CFB of course, and fans of those sports, which means $$$.  Not every addition need be a CFB powerhouse.

UNC was the first state university to graduate a class, and UVA of course has famous history as well.  Both are upper level public schools on the education front.  I think both would "matter" even in a football centric league.

Of course, I've said as much repeatedly when it comes to realignment.

But I don't think most people realize just how limited UVA's football program is.  They suck a lot and were once very consistently a 7-8 win program....but it's odd for such a program to have zero peak, elite seasons.

Wasnt Virginia #1 that same season at one point?

They did reach #1 that year, until losing to GT.  Wound up 8-4.
