I own a small bit of course of Coke, OXY, and Apple.  Coke and OXY have not been terrific investments over time, they are "OK".  Apple for a while was pretty terrific, stagnated over the last year or so, which is OK.  Of course his "style" is not really based on finding terrific investments that double or triple in short order.

I wonder if he owns much Oracle.

I glanced at some headlines from the Italian wedding recently, I didn't read anything about it.  Billionaires bald dude marries decent looking not super young female in expensive soire.  OK, fine with me.  I blame someone for something though.

So many things take fairly prominent space in our "news" media, like this one, that really don't impact any of "us" regular folks.  Some movie star says something bad about Trump.  OK, fine, I don't care.  At all.

I use "The Hill" a lot for basic news now because they minimize this sort of guff relatively speaking.  The various business news sites do the same, the focus on "news you can use", mostly.  The CNN web site has become nearly useless now, probably half their stories are firewalled now.  And yes, I like to see what stories they are featuring, some with Fox News.com.  The Allsides.com site is decent, a bit sparse, mostly links, which is OK with me, I can pretty well guess how various news sites are handling "news".

Humans often are quite interested in "Other People's Business" that doesn't affect them, at all.  Gossip.  What some king or queen did or said.  Meh.

Somewhat of a scary day for me yesterday.  Me and my two boys were wade fishing in East Matagorda Bay and he stepped on a stingray.  Bad hit, he was in severe pain.  We loaded him up and took him to the ER in Bay City, about a 20 minute boat ride and 20 minute vehicle ride.  They had to give him strong medicine for the pain and anti-biotics.  He's doing OK today.  It's always a known danger when wade fishing that getting hit by a ray is not a pleasant experience.

Oh man that sucks, glad he's okay.

I'd been swimming in the Gulf for decades and never even heard of stingray stings, until I stepped on one about 4 years ago in Port Aransas and it got me right in the top of the foot .  Just unbelievable pain.  I googled treatments and the consistent one was-- hot water.  Like, really really hot water.  So I boiled some water, let it cool a bit, then stuck my foot in it, and it actually worked.  I had to do that every 20 minutes or so, and I also took ibupforen.  After 2-3 hours the pain subsided and I was okay.  A couple of margaritas also helped...

Does the devil ray pack a particularly powerful punch?

Years ago, we did a tour off a cruise to "Stingray City", with my three smallish children.  I was a bit leary, but we were assured they never stung anyone there.  They were all over, and we were in the water wading about feeding them squid pieces.  I made an effort not to step on one but it wasn't easy, the water was about 3 feet deep, maybe a meter deep.

Nobody got stung.

Yeah, like I said I'd been swimming at Texas beaches for... well... 50 years.  And never once even heard about a stingray sting.  Until it happened to me.

Jellyfish and Portuguese man o'war, sure.  They're common and I've been stung by both at various times.  But never once, any mentions of stingrays.

Now, I always shuffle my feet when I'm in the water.  Then you might brush one but you're not going to step on it.

At "Stingray City", the beast were used to humans and knew they would get fed, so it was something like being in a zoo.  It did seem like a really bad idea but it was kinda neat.

I have not heard about stingrays on Atlantic beaches, but I don't go in the water any more beyond ankle deep.

Yep, we tried to get some hot water from the motor "pisser" but it wasn't hot enough.  They did give him "the good stuff" at the hospital and then we used hot water at the house to ease the pain. This one left a big gash in the back of his leg, back of the ankle area.  Bled profusely too.  There was another kid at the dock that got stung who went to the ER same time we did and then they told us somebody else was there that day as well due to stingray sting.  So 3 people that day at the ER, and probably a few more that tuffed it out.

We're going to get him some wading shoes that are stingray resistant.  I have several friends that will not wade fish without them.
