Now you've got me picturing him toiling in a basement, with a very home-made server keeping his house warm in the winter months....
Drewby Doo lives too close to the Coast for a basement.

I don't have one either.

But yeah, we rent the space, and we thank you for helping out with that.

folks that live in Zona experience shortages as they grow - Duh!
AZ water priorities:

1. golf courses
2. stuff like data centers
3. Scottsdale public lands
4. Scottsdale lawns
5. Other stuff
6. More things
7. farm irrigation
8. clean drinking water for the public

Golf courses use reclaimed water in AZ. It's a law last I checked. Or maybe it was an ordinance in Chandler and Tempe? Possibly a regulatory thing in Maricopa County. I don't recall exactly where the law/mandate/regulation came from.

One thing that my city--and the city I work in--has is great tap water. Basically piped straight from the Sierra Nevada, very close to Yosemite (Hetch Hetchy Reservoir). Arguably the best municipal water in the world. I will never understand people choosing bottled water here over drinking from the tap.

I miss Lake Michigan water. The water down here sucks, and that is AFTER I've spent $15K on treatment systems.

I encounter a wide variety of drinking water out west, from pure mountain spring water, all the way down to water that you spit out.

The water in San Diego is pretty terrible. And I don't think LA is much of an upgrade. It's not a California-wide thing; it's the luck of history that San Francisco built the water supply that it did when it did, and that several neighboring counties were able to tap into it as well. They wouldn't do it today (including damning the Hetch Hetchy--in fact there are people who advocate for removing the damn, but I don't think that will ever have legs, at least not in my lifetime).

No SOC thread yet? Is this a silent protest against Rutger and other-UW being part of the conference?

Oh well. We had a nice early dinner at Arroyo Trabuco, which golf fans might know as the home course of Michael Block...

Great view, and wonderful dinner...
