There's going to be one where our main gate intersects the main evacuation route here (main route to town in either direction), and I like it.

6 people have been killed at this intersection since I've lived here. 9 have been killed at Vincent. 5 at Charlee. That's 20 people, dead.

Sounds like you have some terrible drivers around you, would totally make sense with all the old folks.

Anyway, congratulations on your new dumb intersections and the not dying part.  I don't want to see you kick it anytime soon, so go be fruitful and live.

Speaking of terrible old folks driving, we're officially taking the keys away from my MIL.

She's actually still a pretty good driver, but she has dementia affecting her memory and she's no longer really capable of getting herself to and from a place, because she doesn't always remember where she was going.  My i s c & a aggie wife was with her driving recently, for the sole purpose of evaluating her driving, and witnessed her become confused at an onramp and just stop in the middle of the road, forcing cars around her to take immediate evasive action.

That's when the decision was made.

She's 86, she had a good run.  Luckily my FIL is still in good shape and can still drive them around.

About half of the deaths (9) involved trucks (mostly dump trucks). They drive too fast and are hard to stop - especially when loaded with asphalt or sand.

2 were motorcycles.

We have a constant stream of concrete trucks going near us (not too near fortunately) to feed constructions sites.  The plant is about 3 miles to our north.  When we walk about we see them often, the drivers seem to be pretty good from what I've seen, obviously a booboo on a city street with a 40 ton truck would be ... exciting.  In a bad way.

I don't know how many loads it takes to build a 60 story building.  I watched five arrive and leave while we had lunch nearby, so maybe 30 per day?  I don't know if they run at night.  Probably 16 months of concrete pouring?

The worst drivers here have these Dodge monsters that have too much hp.

Yup.  Both sets of parents have no plans of moving out of their houses.  Things could get very challenging in the near future.

Luckily both kids are now driving so our commitments there have become minimal.

How are the drivers by you? Never driven up that far. Drivers around the Palm Beaches are NUTS.
