Microsoft basically bought Skype for its customer base and some of the IP.  They didn't care about the brand.

It's really great.  Just get to totally turn off your brain (which far too many actual drivers do, in my experience).
I want the Phx area Waymos to serve more of the westside (aka ghetto).

Aside from Waymo, we have a Lyft equivalent driving Toyota minivans here now.  I think they still have safety drivers, so far, maybe.  I'll probably get one to go to the airport next month.  My wife is ... not amused.

I saw a video of a Waymo passing a stopped school bus on a 2 lane today.  I walked gingerly in front of one at a traffic light as the light turned green (no one was behind it).  It waited for me, I was prepared to jump.

Assistant teacher arrested for allegedly stinking up his school with fart spray

Alexander Paul Robertson Lewis allegedly dispensed the substance at West Florence High School in Florence, South Carolina, over a nearly month long span, leaving school officials mystified as to the origin of the foul odor, the Florence County Sheriff's office said in a statement.

Investigators allege that Lewis used the spray on multiple occasions and over time resulting in a disruption of the school, children requiring medical attention for respiratory issues and requiring the school to incur an expenditure of over $55,000 for inspection and damage to the school air conditioning system, according to the sheriff's office statement.

A motive for the alleged act remains under investigation, according to the sheriff's office.

He looks like fart spray.

Why'd you do it, sir?
Uh...because I'm an assistant teacher in rural SC.

The weirdest thing about them is that 98% of the time they drive irritatingly safely.

Gingerly is not quickly,Amigo.I wouldn't play dodgem with those robos, won't be long before they're hacked and the real fun starts.

Yeah, I was curious, probably six feet in front of it, and paused, ready to jump.  I have seen them navigate complex traffic signals pretty well.

These delivery bots though get confused often.

Bota Box Wine Invites Football Fans to Enter Wine and Wing Pairing Contest
Bota Box Wine is starting football season off right by inviting home chefs to enter their own original chicken wing recipes, and a Bota Box Wine that they go with, into a contest ahead of the end of the football season. The winner will receive two tickets to February’s championship game, which takes place in Santa Clara, Calif.

The contest is set to run from Sept. 1 through Oct. 31, and it’s aptly named “Wing It with Bota.” The three top finalists will receive an all-expense paid trip for themselves and a guest of their choosing to the final championship, which will take place at Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Tailgate in the San Francisco Bay Area.

“The ‘Wing It with Bota’ contest headlines Bota Box’s tailgate campaign, created to elevate game day with wines that are as versatile and crowd-pleasing as chicken wings themselves,” the press release says.

Farewell to roundabouts : how the increasingly popular intersection system works on American roads

Enter the Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT), a clever innovation increasingly used in the U.S. and Europe. Unlike a roundabout, the RCUT redesigns intersections to remove dangerous left turns and cross-traffic. Vehicles approaching from a side road are required to turn right first, travel 500 to 1,300 feet, and then execute a U-turn from a dedicated left lane to continue on the main road.

If the driver’s goal is simply to cross the main road, they perform another right turn after the U-turn. This setup effectively extends the intersection, giving drivers a safer, smoother route without disrupting traffic on the main highway. It’s like a roundabout stretched out, keeping main lanes free and reducing accident potential.
