LA is a big place. Allegedly there are parts of it that are amazing, including Westwood.

But it's the home of the Dodgers and USC, so screw that place.
I hate the traffic out there. Living in Chicago for 53 years gave me enough of that crap.

Hey @847badgerfan what's your source for these?  And, could you show Texas and Texas A&M?  I'm waist-deep in the middle of all of this now.
Here ya go @utee94 .

My SIL lives up in Bel Aire along Beverly Glen off Mulholland Drive.

It's nice up there, and then you drive down either side and sit in parking lots.

Traffic? Didn't you hear that there's nobody in LA any more? They've all moved to TX & FL! :57:

But yeah, that's a fair criticism. I actually almost never cross the Los Angeles county line, and that number cuts down significantly if we exclude seeing my wife's friends in Long Beach, which is just barely across.

Traffic down here in Orange County is no joke either, of course, but it's not as bad as up there.

I've never been on the UCLA campus, but I'd hope that most of what the students need is walkable.

Interesting.  According to that site, Texas A&M is actually more expensive than UT by about $3K per year.

Put one in the UT column in the battle for my daughter's education... :)

Many years ago I drove from Agoura Hills to Newport Beach on a Friday afternoon.  That 79 miles took me about 3 hours.  But I did it to see the hot waitress at the bar at the hotel I stayed at regularly, and it was well worth my time.

I feel like we need a new thread:

Ha!  I have a few.  But nothing like Hooky's stories.  That man lived a life, that's for sure.  Sadly, too short of one.

It's a decent campus. It's a relatively young school so many of the buildings are more modern than historic, from what I saw. It's not a Big Ten campus, IMO. There also is no space to build a stadium.

My SIL went there for a degree in something or other. She babysits part time now, for uber-rich people up on the hill.
