Minnesota football coach P.J. Fleck addressed the media during the Gophers' Big Ten Media Days session on Wednesday, speaking on his current team's status after Minnesota was picked to finish 11th out of the 18 teams in the conference. During his press conference, KETV Sports Director Andy Kendeigh asked the head coach his thoughts on Nebraska football.

"One of the most dangerous teams in the Big Ten is Nebraska," Fleck said.

Fleck, entering his ninth year at Minnesota, added that he has been impressed with what coach Matt Rhule has done with the Nebraska program as Rhule enters his third season at the helm in Lincoln.

"I know what Matt Rhule created at Temple. I know what he did at Baylor. I know what type of human being he is," Fleck said. "He's awakening it, that's for sure."

Rhule continued to receive praise during the Minnesota coach's answer Wednesday evening.

"He's a special person. One thing I respect about him: he has a systematic approach to how he wants it done and what it looks like.... Matt (Rhule) has a clear path of exactly what he wants," Fleck said.

The outspoken IU coach, who in his first season led the Hoosiers to a College Football Playoff berth in 2024, saved his best zinger for the league he believes most resembles Indiana’s approach to scheduling — the SEC.

Indiana has the weakest nonconference slate of all 18 Big Ten teams, hosting Old Dominion, Kennesaw State and Indiana State in the opening three weeks. IU also canceled a series with Virginia — Cignetti said the wheels were set in motion to do so before he took the job but he signed off on the deal — so Indiana is not currently scheduled to play a power nonconference foe until Notre Dame in 2030.

Cignetti noted, though, IU plays nine conference games. SEC teams only play eight.

“Twelve of the 16 SEC teams play three G5 games or an FCS game,” Cignetti said, mentioning games against non-power conference foes. “Twelve of those teams play 36 games — 29 G5 games, and 7 FCS games — and one less conference game.

“So we figured we’d just adopt the SEC’s scheduling philosophy. Some people don’t like it. I’m more focused in on those nine conference games.”

so Fleck laminated all that for an opportunity to suck up to Ruhle? maybe he's softening up a landing spot on UNL's staff for next year

What Americans get wrong about Social Security: AARP survey

I'd guess nobody here misunderstands this, but a few things listed.  The main one I think I see misunderstood is that while the SSTF may "run out of money", benefits would still be paid at about 80%.  My GUESS is Congress does nothing until it becomes URGENT!!! and then just ponies up borrowed monies to fill the gap.
