I wonder if Lane Kiffin would like Dantonio’s job?  Solid coach but kind of an obnoxious jack ass.  Might be a good fit?

Somebody somewhere will take a flier on Kiffin next year I suspect.  There are going to be openings obviously and not many candidates for them.

Fickle is going to be in demand I think.

That's what I was thinking. I would not be surprised if MSU was looking his way already.

But I agree with ELA; IF MD makes some staff changes, let him come back next year to right the ship, I believe he as earned it. However, if he sticks to his guns and demands to retain his staff, the AD should give him the option to retire or faced being fired.

What about Pat Narduzzi?  Is it a step up from Pitt and would he be willing?

He's not really doing all that well at Pitt.

To be fair, neither did his predecessor.

847 why did he leave Madtown?I believe he didn't see I2I with Ogeron perhaps in B.R.
He really didn't have a choice. He and the head coach were oil and water. Bielema would have fired him after the season, but Bielema left anyway. Then Paul Chryst was hired and is offensive coach.

Canada isn't for everyone, and he's supposedly hard to get along with. In the right fit, I think he could succeed. He bounces around a ton, which has to scare some teams.

I notice Pitt is 6-3 with two close losses, one to PSU.  That is "not bad" for Pitt.  They host UNC, play at VT, and host BC, so they have a decent shot at 9-3, 8-4 being perhaps the most likely result.

I believe I saw Pitt has the 2nd best ACC conference record, behind only Clemson, during Narduzzi's tenure, so he's done better than it seems.  That said, apparently he's happy where he at.

I think ideally (realistically) Canada as OC/CIW, taking over in 2021 is my first choice.  If we have to hire someone for next year, Fickell is probably #1, followed by Matt Campbell, if Narduzzi truly isn't interested.  I also like the idea of Wilcox or Leonhard, and then hiring an OC with total control.

That said, it'll be Mike Tressel

A team might have a lot of procedures penalties is you go to Canada for a coach.

I'm surprised at the number of penalties, even at the NFL level
