I mentioned before that UCF is a very dangerous team with their uptempo.  The go after it, and even a month's prep is not going to stop it.  Saban hates those offenses because he can't sub.

One of Bama's consistent strengths is depth on defense, and that advantage is diluted playing a team like UCF.

They might have to fake injuries.  Is there a penalty for that?  Unsportsmanlike?  I see it in soccer all the time of course.

Had our first snow this week, a pleasant mix of freezing rain that turned into rain that turned into snow.  But that's gone and will hopefully be dry and reasonably not cold today.  I'm on driver duty - my daughter is supposed to go to a bat mitzvah.  What does one bring to a bat mitzvah?  How long do they last?  These are things I probably should have thought about before this morning.
I have some experience and am sorry I missed this. Hope it went OK and the food was good. (For others reference, usually 2-3 hours in the AM, plus whatever time the party is at night if they have one. When I was young the default gift was $18, but that might've changed)

So, to steal a line from a homer board, Jonathan Taylor was just a motherf***er, but in a good way. I've seen a lot of good backs at UW. In my first game on campus, Brian Calhoun ran for 258 and 5 TDs, and what we saw yesterday might be the best game I've seen a Badgers back have.

When UW went down 14, I admit I thought it was done. This offense hasn't been comeback good. But hat tip to Taylor, Jack Coan for looking OK and Danny Davis for delivering on his promise for the first time this damn year. Run D also pulled together well.

At year's start, UW was a hint overrated. Granted, 10-2 seemed pretty attainable, 9-3 with a west upstart pulling an upset, maybe better than 10 wins if PSU/Mich didn't deliver or the offense was really good. Instead, the starting QB regressed, and gave way to an ineffective backup. The vaunted line was a mess in pass pro and had run game lapses at bad times. The receiving corps lost its best player to legal issues, and the other three guys didn't deliver. The defense we thought was going to reload both didn't and has been ruined by injuries (multiple games where the whole secondary or D-line is just gone)

Keeping the axe is no guarantee. Minnesota has proven feisty, and I have a feel I'll be annoyed by the positive quality of Fleck's team before too long. But if UW can pull that out, considering everything, I'll take 8-4 and be pleased as hell.

I’m 100% convinced Harbaugh has some sort of slight mental disability. He’s just not normal in any way period.

I was not able to see any games again but I wish I'd seen this. Taylor is going to end up as the best TB running back to ever play at Wisconsin. The kid can go well over 4K yards this year, which smashes Ron Dayne's 2 year record of 3600 or so. I don't think he breaks the overall record, because he's gone after next season.

Beautiful part of the world.  Post a photo if not too inconvenient.
Will you be able to see smoke?
So I was wrong re: smoke... Definitely impacted everything. It didn't smell smoky, but there was a heavy haze everywhere.
In the below pick you can make out the hills in the background. On a normal day, they're vibrant green and clear.

Oh, and thanks a lot Purdue... This is rigoddamndiculous... Up 14 in the 4th, seal the game with an interception only to have it called back on penalty, and then you just let Taylor walk all over you?

Sad to be 5-4 with two winnable and one tough game ahead, and now we'll be fighting for our lives in Bloomington to avoid 5-7 against another team with equally high stakes.

Suppose it's tough to complain, though... Three wineries in Dry Creek yesterday followed by dinner at Russian River Brewing.

Three Napa [St Helena] wineries scheduled today, with a break for lunch at V. Sattui in between and finishing with dinner at Mustard's Grill.

Already have a trunk full of wine and beer. We'll see what we add to it today :72:

UConn on track to break a record for giving up the most yards per game in a season. To avoid breaking the record, they need to hold Temple to -164 yards. Seems doable.

so, this is why the Buckeye's defense isn't in last place?

The North Coast champion didn't fare very well against the OAC champion in round 1 of the D3 playoffs.
