Very intriguing matchup. Huge test for the MSU defense, but they should be able to put some points up themselves.
That's more reputation than anything.  Defense was ahead of the offense on the Palouse.  I think 13th in the NCAA in scoring defense...playing in the Pac 12.
S&P ranks them as the #57 offense and the #23 defense in the nation.  So (based on S&P) it's MSU's #106 offense against WSU's #23 defense; and WSU's #57 offense against MSU's #7 defense.
Could be lower scoring than people are thinking.

Just read WSU's best defender will be suspended for the first half of the game for a targeting ejection in the second half of the Apple Cup.

So we got that going for us, which is nice.

Should be an interesting game. Big Ten defense v. spread offense. Good luck, MSU!

LJ Scott says he'll.play in the game, then decide after on declaring.  Honestly a little surprised.

Tavares Martin Jr. and Isaiah Johnson-Mack, two of Wazzu's top 3 WR's in terms of production have been dismissed from the program. Yikes. That's a bit of a break for Sparty, makes it a little bit easier on the defense, I'd think. The Pirate likes to spread it around, so I'm sure it'll still be a bit of a bitch to cover those 5 wide looks every single down.

Tavares Martin Jr. and Isaiah Johnson-Mack combined for 130 catches and 1,386 yards and 14 touchdowns. Were high school teammates from Belle Glade, FL, both dismissed at the end of the regular season. Kinda odd.

Per Twitter, they asked for a release to transfer, and we're subsequently dismissed.

I mean I can't go to my boss and ask him if it's cool if I miss work Monday for a job interview, and not expect to get fired.

yeah, don't blame Leach for telling them to go pound sand.
Just odd that they are both transferring, when they were clearly both more productive than ever playing for him. Were HS teammates in Belle Glade, maybe they just want to be closer to home and transfer to like Miami, UCF, USF, UF, or FSU?

Although as I posted earlier, it's more reputation than anything.  Their offense was pretty mediocre this year, but their defense was really good.  Too 25 nationally by S&P+

Hercules being out the first half for a targeting call in the Apple Cup is probably a bigger absense.

Those situations are always weird. I've been in some spots where I can ask. Considering the alternative is usually lying and saying, I have a personal situation, it seems bad on either front.
Of course, if I have a boss who is ready to throw a fit if I'm seeking professional advancement or more money, that individual is probably not a good one to work for.

Yeah, but that's real life.

As an employer, I always want to keep my people (my greatest assets are my people) but at the same time if they can find advancement elsewhere that I cannot provide, I have and always will do my best to help them.

This is probably why none of my people ever leave unless I want them to. :)

Here I have no problem with what Leach did.  You want to move on, that's fine.  We'll play with the kids that want to be here.  Just like I have no problem with kids skipping the bowl games to prepare/protect themselves for the draft, if you have a kid who is asking for permission to look around, before the season is over, I'd rather use the bowl game practices and game on the kids that want to be here, and/or want to be here going forward.

This one is a two way street that I have no issue with either way.

Redshirt Junior back-up DE Robert Bowers dismissed from the team by Dantonio. Redshirt freshmen safety Austin Andrews and true freshman DE Lashawn Paulino-Bell are suspended for the Holiday Bowl, won't make the trip with the team.

I think Bowers has been gone for about 6 weeks, it just came up now because MSU released a bowl roster.

The other two, rumors are alcohol releated offenses.  Both are under 21 I assume based on their class.

sounds like Washington State's DC is going to be leaving to join Urban Meyer's staff at Ohio State as the 10th coach. Wow. Consider me shocked. I know the guy is from Columbus, but that's just....strange. Washington State was trying to extend him and give him a pay raise. Wonder if he coaches in the bowl game?

This probably means this will be Schiano's last year as DC and this guy will take over in 2019. That'd be my guess. Either that or he hates working for Mike Leach lol.
