For three of four years between 1947 and 1950, a Polish American won the Heisman Trophy. Notre Dame's Johnny Lujack won the trophy in 1947, teammate Leon Hart in 1949, and Ohio State's Vic Janowicz in 1950. All three are inductees of the National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame.

Go celebrate with a Polish Boy
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_Boy

The Polish Boy is a sausage sandwich native to Cleveland, Ohio. It consists of a link of kielbasa sausage placed in a bun, and covered with a layer of french fries, a layer of barbecue sauce and a layer of coleslaw. While the sausage is typically grilled, some establishments will quickly deep fry the sausage after grilling and prior to assembling the sandwich.

While Polish Boys can be found at various establishments throughout Cleveland, a popular place was Freddie's Southern Style Rib House, known for their southern style barbecue sauce. Esquire named theirs as one of the best sandwiches in America, calling it "soul on white."

Chef Michael Symon cited the Polish Boy as "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" on the Food Network, where he featured Seti's Polish Boys on the show. Seti's version had an optional chili and cheese add-on.

Now dammit that right there is worth putting a bib on for

I don't think either Nebraska or Iowa is considered rust belt? Always thought they were grain belt states.

Okay, so you post about a Polish Boy but you don't even eat it as designed?

Actually, I think I've had a Polish Boy, now that you mention it.

I didn't have kielbasa, so I substituted a beef frank. I didn't have french fries, cole slaw, or BBQ sauce, so I substituted relish, mustard, and onion.

It was the best Polish Boy ever! Oh wait... No it wasn't. It was a hot dog.

He mentioned 3 Polish Boys who won the Heisman.Thought i'd play along and you drink IPAs so that's not sticking to the script - but pair it with a Polish Boy w/o the  spuds and continue with your double bogeys

Don't argue with me, Nubbz, or I'm gonna post a picture of the baby back ribs, broccoli cheese casserole, and corn bread we're eating tonight to torment you.

Any sausage-on-bread thing is good.
